Thanks everyone.  He had been playing poker with friends, and was on his way home.  As he crossed the street, he passed a couple walking in the other direction.  The couple heard a squeal as a car sped around the corner, they turned around and saw the car hit him then speed off.  Thankfully they were there to call 911 - so Emergency services got him to the trauma center within about 15 minutes of the accident (the hospital is close at hand).

He is such a great kid.  We talked about doing a bike tour this summer after he passed the bar examinations - we wanted to do the old 'LEJOG' UK tour - form Land's End to John O'Groats up north.  This will have to wait.

Looks like they got the car, and are on the trail of the driver:

You have to figure the driver will turn him/herself in at this point.

Is that your brother Pete?  Keeping Tony in my prayers and that police will apprehend the person(s) responsible and get some answers.

Bromptonboy

Yes my brother - Tony's dad - was interviewed by the local press.   Thanks for the prayers and support, I really appreciate it.

Wow - good news.  How's Tony doing?

Meds

Good news they have got him. How is Tonys status?

Bromptonboy

Thanks for asking.  Tony is still in critical condition.  He is stable enough that they operated on his leg yesterday - and will attend to some of the problems with his arms and shoulders on Friday.

My nephew continues to come in and out of conscientiousness - but today he returned the Vulcan 'Live Long An Prosper' hand gesture to his sister!   Man does that brighten my weekend!!  There is still geek in there, and the lights are still on.

That's a good sign. I hope he's feeling better soon. Three years ago my younger son was hit by an SUV while riding his bike. Suffered a head injury. He's fine now, but those few weeks he was in the hospital were the worst time of our lives. I know how you feel. Hang in there.

Awesome news, keep us informed on his progress :)

Rico

Great news.  Hope he continues to improve.
