So my Xbox 360 got the rings of death, I decided to cannibalize it and get a PS3, any one know of what I could do with it?

Buy a new xbox or fix it yourself if it's out of warrenty. My library is too big to just drop a system.

Did you get a warning message on your screen if so they will fix it for free.

It died when my parents were watching netflix XD that and its too late, I ripped off the warranty on accident

And nothing comes on screen when you turn it on? Mine was out if warranty when I had mine and they still replaced it. Worth a try, nothing to loose.

Darkmolerman

yeah it just displays 3 red rings, no annoying fans, no nothing. I am hopping I can make it into a entertainment PC

It was already an entertainment PC, you are going to have to fix it if you want it to continue to be one. There are several online kits that can tell you what you need to fix your system and you can also customize it if you are so inclined. When the warranty is gone, the sky is the limit.

Also try unplugging and repluging in your power and video cables on the box

lol all I need is a #10 weird screwdriver and I will at least make it look cooler

Do a google search for the towel trick.  It has something to do with wrapping the system in a towel and running it for a couple of hours.  This should get it working again, short term.  Then trade it in at Gamestop for store credit and get yourself a couple new PS3 games.  F Microsoft and F Gamestop.

What is this hitch hikers guide?
Ripley: Ash. Any suggestions from you or Mother?
Ash: No, we're still collating.
Ripley: [Laughing in disbelief] You're what? You're still collating? I find that hard to believe.

Sounds like it to me. Do you wet the towel first? (for use in hand-to-hand combat)

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

You can also buy a used 360 pretty cheaply too.  I think we have returned our Xbox's 4 or 5 times total now and each time have gotten a replacement for them.

My friend tried and all it did was make it work...but not as well, if it doesn't work I will just get a PS3, in fact id rather have a PS3

Warren, if you get the three rings of death Micosoft will fix your console whether it's under warranty or not. I know because I've had to do it three times. UG...annoying. I bought an external cooler for my console and so far it's been fine for almost a year. Is your issue the shipping costs? Do they have a repair center in Hawaii or do you have to send it to the mainland? Go to XBOX.com. You can find info about your console and how to send it back there on the site. It can be repaired and the only thing you should have to pay is the initial shipping costs (if you don't want to wait on a box to be sent to you), but you have to get the forms and everything online.
