Have you guys heard of this guy Confused Matthew?  He does reviews of movies and TV, mostly scifi where he's brutal, but often correct. It's not a podcast but video slideshows broken up into 10 minute pieces.  Very harsh reviewer. He was spot on with his Back to the Future 2 review.  And constantly goofs on Star Trek Voyager.  He makes good point in his Star Trek Generations review.  Some other stuff he is way too picky.

No, I haven't, thanks! :)

If you liked him you might also like http://sfdebris.com/main.asp. He's sometimes very bitter and uses more swear words, but also some humor.
Try the Wrath of Kahn review if you want a highlight, he's read the literature inspiring the film multiple times and discusses the themes.
He certainly bashes Voyager but doesn't stop there which makes it fair.

Funny thing is, I decided to watch Voyager not in spite of but because of his bad reviews and decided it wasn't that bad after all! :)

I have to add one last thing I've recently heard and made me think:
The opposite of love is not hate but indifference.

Thanks, I'll check that out.

Yeah what Matthew does isn't so much a review as ripping the subject a new one.  Sometimes I agree, sometimes not.  But Matthew doesn't just say, "It sucked man!"  He comes down on the movie sound reasoning, dissects scenes to expose problems.  He makes good points in his bashing of Generations when he takes apart the prisoner exchange sequence and how it makes no sense.

I goof on Voyager all the time.  But when it first ran, I had to see it every week because they had so many good stories.  And I bought the DVD.

They are very similar as far as I can see.
Both intelligent with good points, very agitated about what they see. Sometimes that's too much for me, other times I have fun and laugh it off.

I haven't seen that much from Matthew, one minor shortcoming I perceive is to follow complex characters with complex motivations. Humans are not coherent and logical systems, as much as we like to perceive ourselves as such. (With my background in sociology I could elaborate, or you could just trust me! ;) )

An example would be the main character of the Golden Compass, is it that hard to understand a 12 year old is more upset about a handbag than all that bigger picture stuff? I don't think so.
He also did himself a great disservice when he started b******* about how Shyamalan treated the movie reviewer character in the Lady in the Water. I got the impression he's lacking the exact thing he's just criticizing Shyamalan for: some self-reflection.
