Thought you guys might get a kick out of this!  Probably the best job I've ever had.  I think it was around 2000 and I was working for a themeing company.  We got the contract to build 5 Enterprise E's for Famous Players movie theaters across Canada.  I was the only one in the shop who really appreciated how cool it was to help build these ships.

We did wooden plugs first and then molds which we were able to get the fibreglass shells for models.  I think they are about 30'-40' long.  I remember catching a mistake somebody made regarding the placement of the nacells, it was subtle but we were able to fix it.

Here's a funny story!   I had a buddy working at the shop who drove a white Honda civic.  I think it was the weekend before the Sci fi con and we wanted to screw around with him a bit.  We took all the extra decals we had left over from the build and stickered his car up like a shuttlecraft!!!  He was a good sport about it and actually drove around with the stickers on for a few weeks.  I heard that his girlfriend got pulled over on a spot check and recieved some pretty strange looks from the officers.  Ahhhh good times:)  Unfortunately I don't have any pics of the car in all its glory.

Holy moly those are cool pictures!  What a neat project to be able to work on.  Anymore pics around?  I think this might be today's Daily Pic!

Awesome! What sort of plans were you working from? How long did it take?

Serenity

We scaled it up from one of the little plastic models that was out back then.  The decals were also blown up to fit the large scale.  I think it took us about a month to finish each one,not including all the prep.  The real work is in the plugs and molds, after that its just kinda assembly/paint/ finishing touches.

I know one is at the Colossus in Toronto and another in Lavall Quebec, can't remember where the others shipped.  Probably Vancouver/Calgary/maybe one on the east coast.

WOW! I've never seen that before. Amazing, it's never even been on the RPF that I can recall, Rico. How did they miss this?

I'm not sure Bryan.  I might post it up over there in the model section.  I really wonder if any of these are still around.

That's awesome stuff... and a great story. Were they built to promote the release of Nemesis?

Serenity

They were all done around the year 2000, don't think they were done specificly for Nemesis.  They were built as part of the interior decoration for the movie theaters.  We had a huge boom of theaters being built around that time.

I'm not sure what happened to the molds,,,probably garbaged.  Be pretty cool having one in the front yard ;D

Wow.. that's awesome.. wish our movie theaters had huge Enterprises hanging in them.

OK. Most of our jobs (except perhaps Kenny's) are now officially boring!

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.
