I really would like to see these but the $20 price for DVD-R is what puts me off buying them. If the price was around $10 I might reconsider. I'm glad that Warner is opeing up their archives but DVD-R technology is so unstable. I have some CD-Rs and DVD-Rs only a few tears old that no longer play. That means you would have to make backups of all your DVD-Rs you bought from Warner.

That is expensive.  Well, there is always Netflix!

I talked about this on the podcast yesterday and also posted about it in the podcast # 158 thread (where I covered these films).  Oh, and DVD-R is not unstable.  It depends greatly on the player you use.  It's a function of the laser, power and optics.  I have used DVD-R for many years and never had a problem.  As far as price, I would guess there will be discounts, sales, and so on that always happen.  That's just an MSRP.  I mean who pays that?

Actually Warner seems pretty set on the $19.99 price point for these archive editions and as for Netflix I doubt they will invest good money in DVD-R copies for rental. As far as I am aware the only place their archive titels are available is from the Warner store. So probably the only way you will get these is either bite the bullet and order from Amazon or download them illegally.

Oh...I suppose I should mention that the Warner Archive series is made on demand. We have been following this over at The Golden Age of Hollywood since the service was first announced about a year ago. Unfortunately Warner seems to be generating enough sales at the $19.99 price that it's unlikely we will see any price reduction.
