My friend Mark (markinro here) needed a new PC, so I'm helping build one for him.  Got all the parts and I'll start putting it together probably tomorrow.  The case is most impressive.  Looks like you could time travel with this rig.  Monster fan on top and good sized ones on back too.  This thing is solid!  Going to be one very fast rig!  (Ignore the props and things in the background.  A lightsaber isn't essential to building a great PC.  But it does keep away the Empire!)

SWEET! Shame about that operating system, though.... ;)

IGNORE THE PROPS??!   Oh come on!!   Looks cool.  If anyone's interested, have a great deal on the old PC - free but no software or OS.

That looks really smokin' Rico! I'm kind of wondering if that big 'ol top fan is going to be noisy though? Otherwise I like the looks of the box!

I figure the lightsaber would do the opposite. It would attract the Emperor's Jedi hunters!

The only thing I can see is another fan may let in more dust.   I'll ask Rico for a warranty -- yyeeeahhhh...

Bigger fans are almost always quieter in PC's.  Better balance and they actually don't have to spin quite as fast to generate more volume of air movement (ahhh - simple physics).  For example all the fans in my main PC are 120mm instead of the typical 80mm fans.  And it's very quiet and very cool inside.  Oh, and fans keep dust out too.

At an old job we had a Sun server that had about 12 40mm fans in it. When it booted it sounded like a jet was taking off.

Bigger fans = less noise. That's a fact!

Yep - that's why we get paid the "big bucks" to do this stuff Joe.  Oh, wait a minute,.....    ;)

Only if the fans are going as fast in relation to smaller fans like the 40mm billybob was talking about.  THEN it would be louder.

But that's just overkill & silly.

Well, got the PC assembled and putting Vista on now.  Purr's like a kitten - whisper quiet.  Even the monster video card is barely audible.  Oh, and the power supply comes in a cool cloth bag.  Awesome package!

"IT'S ALIVE!!!"

P.S.  No need to pick this baby up too soon Mark!  ;)

IT'S ALIIIIVE !!!!

The power supply is on the bottom - interesting.  Probably because of the Hellboy fan up top.  Fans in the front too?

Rico

Yep - many fans all over.  All nice and big.  One is right in front of the hard drive area too.  This sucker rocks!

*lol* (literally)

And the question about noise was the first that came to mind, very interesting.
