I have noticed that the great TV show Quantum leap does not get a lot of press on the site. I understand it is more of a TREK site.... Which I am grateful to have ( thanks to the Great and Powerful Rico of OZ). But I just wanted my own little cornor of the forum to be able to talk about QL and have others enjoy there favorite episodes and Moments. Or if you just wanted to talk about Al's shirts or how often Ziggy was wrong, its all acceptable here.

My all time favorite QL episode is the First Episode of Season 1. You get airplanes and a little Baseball. Two of my 3 Favorite hobbie. Movies being the 3rd one.  The Enterprise episode First Flight from season 2 reminds me a little of this QL episode.

I hope there are a few Quantum Leap fans on this forum and I am not alone.

Absolutely!

My one regret, however, is that I faded out on the series once the concept of the evil leaper came along and never have gone back to see what happened after that.

An of course there is always the Dean Stockwell guest spot on Enterprise to throw in!

(I thought we had a QL thread here somewhere)

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

If there is an original QL post on the forum the I appologize to the OP. But I could not find it anywhere So I started a new one.  The Dean Stockwell guest spot was awsome to see that. I am a huge Scott Bakula fan and Love Enterprise. It is up there with DS9 for me. TNG is first.  What season is the evil leaper in? I am only on season 2, sadly.

That I can't remember. I saw it in the original run so it was a while ago. It came in once they started to try and explore a bit more of the how's and the why's of what was going on. These days I'm not even sure how many series there were.

Rico will know. I'm sure QL was in one of his 'other sci-fi' themed podcasts. In fact, it may be the thread for the 'cast I was thinking about rather than a specific series thread.

I'm a QL fan and am working through the whole series off and on.  I watched it when I was much, much younger when it was still "new," but don't remember many of the episodes or if I'd even seen them all.  In reading the episode descriptions, there do seem to be a few "jump the shark" episodes.  It'll be fun for me to see how it plays out.

That's probably somethin I'll do sooner or later but I'm still running through all the Trek re-runs we have broadcast daily over here at the moment. Once I'm through those I'll have time to go back to other things.

QL is my favorite TV of all time (alongside Trek, of course). I've been watching the episodes again on Netfilx (they have them all streaming!)

The only complaint I have is the very last episode. It seemed they just gave up and threw together a finale that was completely off the track.

There were many stand-out episodes, but one that sticks with me is when Sam leapt into a serial killer (and like-wise the serial killer into him) and the killer escapes with Sam's body and Al has to track him down. It was interesting to see the "future world" in action.

So you'll be commenting on the upcoming podcast then? ;)

I don't know if I saw that episode.

Episode 78, "Killing Time", one of the last.

The problem with the final episode is that nobody knew it was going to be the series finale.  It wasn't supposed to end that way.  I am still holding out hope (probably futile at this point) for a feature film that will tie up all those loose ends.

I am pretty sure the "evil leaper" only appeared twice, once in season 4 and once in season 5.

Actually from what I know, the writers knew that was going to be the final episode and wrote it that way intentionally.  I'll dig more into for the upcoming QL podcast.  I have a book on the making of the series.

Actually I think we are both right in a sense, aparrently the episode was originally written as an end of season cliffhanger, and when it became known that no season six was forthcoming, the episode was revised and rewritten.  It was definitely an unsatisfying end for many, and a bit confusing for me the first time I saw it having not been completely familiar with the whole of the series at the time.  After repeated viewings though I get what they were going for, but I still would love to see the continued adventures of Sam Fisher.

the series finale would have been a good season 4 ending, but in season 5 there were some story lines that were totally negated by the series finale. For example, the episode where Sam jumps into Dr. Ruth. At the end, he can't leap out again because Dr. Ruth has to help Al with his new girlfriend. Why would that happen if Sam was going to go back and fix things with Al's wife? Or the episode where Al gets to say goodbye to her? Why do all that if it's just going to get fixed? It just seemed like they dumped everything into season 5 and then settled on an ending they already had rather than write the ending the series deserved.

Sam Fisher is from Splinter Cell. Sam Beckett is from QL.

Having now re-watched the finale (and the Civil War episode FWIW) I can see now where they were going with it (thanks to the podcast info) but I certainly didn't look at it in that light when it first aired.

There are still a number of never-to-be-answered questions left over from the episode but on the whole I'm happier with it in light of what I've learned than I was at the time I first saw it.

Was that the only time we got to see the imaging chamber and Gushie?
