Here is the song download http://www.christrocks.com/parody

Unimatrix 01 Seven of Nine
to the tune of 867-5309

Hey

Janeway, Janeway
Who can I turn to?
You rescued someone
We can depend on
I know you think
that she's just one of the Borg
severed from the collective
Just one of the hoard

Janeway, You've got Borg drone
We need to change her mind-
Janeway, don't let them keep her
Unimatrix zero one Seven of Nine
(Unimatrix zero one Seven of Nine)

Janeway Janeway
You've got the drone for me
Her nanoprobes
They heal me so happy
I tried to talk to her before
she's so cold
I tried regeneration
But it felt so old

Janeway, You've gota Borg drone
We need to change her mind-
Janeway, don't let them keep her
Unimatrix zero one Seven of Nine
(Unimatrix zero one Seven of Nine)

I got it
(I got it) I got it
I got your nanoprobes in me
I got it
(I got it) I got it
For efficiency For a efficiency  call

[Instrumental Interlude]

Janeway, You've got a Borg drone
We need to change her mind-
Janeway, don't let them keep her
Unimatrix zero one Seven of Nine

Janeway, Janeway who can we turn to?
Unimatrix Zero One Seven of Nine
For a collective time
I can always depend on her
Anica Hansen, Seven of Nine
Unimatrix Zero One Seven of Nine

Loved the new podcast. Seven has always been a favorite of mine and I've always thought she was a great addition to the show. My only issue with Dark Frontier was the reasoning behind Seven's return to the collective. I really didn't buy it as an excuse to not assimilate her on the spot. The Borg had already lost a lot of humans who escaped and it didn't make sense that the one that grew up Borg would be able to provide any new insights on what it was to be human.

I think the way I saw that is once you are assimilated certain things get kind of pushed aside, maybe even lost in the process.  So they were trying to get Seven to help them willingly - without assimilating her again.  It's a bit of a stretch, but having her borg-ified again and then saved once more would have been a bit silly.

Another excellent podcast!  Thanks Rico!

I can agree with that.

Loved the podcast and it is a great episode.

The things you mentioned about the stardates Rico was a major issue at the time as it seemed to contradict the continuity when it came to knowledge of the Borg. It clearly implies that the Borg were known to the Federation at least in part about ten years before Q introduced the Enterprise to them.

The reason for this was so that Seven Of Nine's back story isn't contradicted. Since it is stated she was a child when assimilated and she is now a woman in her late twenties or early thirties they had to make the dates fit with when the Borg would have had contact with humans.

Later many tried to reconcile the continuity problems by stating that the events of the First Contact movie and later the Borg episode of Enterprise created an alternate timeline that made the Borg aware of Earth a lot sooner. This led to them being nearer our space a lot sooner so stories about them could filter down to the Federation.

The annoying thing about it is that they could have just told us that her growth was accelerated in a Borg maturation chamber and avoided the whole situation.   ;D

Nevertheless I really enjoyed the development of the Borg on Voyager.

I think it's even easier to explain.

"Neutral Zone" episode of TNG where there are planets that were destroyed in the Neutral zone that are discovered years later to have been the work of the Borg. That was in the first season of TNG.

I personally see it as an issue of cryptozoology. There were rumors of the Borg, but no one really knew what they were. It's a big universe and I doubt that every ship captain has been briefed on every theory going on at the time. Then toss in the Federation's habit of hiding information about things they can't control, like the planet that Pike ended up on and the existance of the Gateway planet, or the Omega particle.

I can see the federation having suspicions or even proof, but not sharing that information with the general public. If you go with that idea, it paints the Hansens as probably fringe nutjob conspiracy theory scientists that are more into looking for answers than worrying about the safety of their child. And that view would fit perfectly with the people that we saw onscreen.

Rico, I enjoyed this podcast a lot.  You did a great job at bringing out some stuff I didn't know before.  THANK YOU!  I liked having the collectible review toward the beginning.  Thanks for the shout out for the parody site and Take Him With You.  That was cool of you.  Anyway, wanted to say I enjoyed it.

I always wondered why they never did something like that. They had the borg babies in the little chambers on the first episode and never showed them again. I thought it was kind of creepy to have drawers full of infants.

Yes, good stuff as ever. This episodes aired again over here recently nut I must have missed a few things when watching. It was nice to have it all explained :)

I liked it when I saw it but I appreciate it a bit more now.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.
