Show Notes:

It's time once again for the next CompanionCasts for The Guild Season Five. First of all be sure you watched Episode 5 of season 5 "Focus Problem".

Our Season 4 CompanionCasts were a huge hit so we thought we would do them again for Season 5. So what is a CompanionCast?? It's a behind the scene look at the current episode of The Guild.

I was on set everyday while they shot Season 5. As actors and crew were finished with scenes I would try and speak to them. Get some inside info about the scene they just shot. I also interviewed Felicia Day and Kim Evey about the storyline and Sean Becker about the directing. Each one of these CompanionCasts will be episode specific and will vary in length depending on how much guildie goodness I am able to gather.

In this CompanionCast I interview Felicia Day, Kim Evey, Sandeep Parikh, Jeff Lewis, Amy Okuda, Vince Caso and Greg Aronowitz

I hope you enjoy a look behind the scenes of Season 5 Episode 5 "Focus Problem"

Kenny

Big changes to Knights of the Guild "regular" podcasts.. first one I dropped my co-host Jenni from the podcast. Since she hasn't worked on The Guild the past 2 seasons it's tough to talk behind the scenes. Instead of a main co-host I'll have various cast and crew members join me. I'm also going to do 1 "main" show a month and several smaller mini/microcasts as well. I plan on doing alot more behind the scenes segments since my co-hosts will be cast and crew. Going to drop or limit the "donation" segment as well as "listener feedback and Business Time". Going to play with the format a bit and see what feels right but after two and a half years I think this podcast needs a shot in arm and I hope these changes do the trick.

What do you guys think??

billybob476

I think it never hurts to keep things fresh. I'm sorry to see Jenni go but if she isn't really working on the show I can see the reasoning.

I think the Companion Casts are the star right now, of course those only exist during the season. It's amazing you can get over 2 hours of content from a 5-9 minute episode! :)

Have you been noticing anything with the download numbers to indicate that the show needs a "shot in the arm"?

Yeah Jenni will be on here and there but no longer a full time host.

Yeah before my companioncast numbers were down a bit but of course with CompanionCast my numbers almost double. So when these set of companioncasts end with Season Five I want to see if I can retain some of those listeners.

If you want my personal view, then I think some of the structural changes you're talking about are a good move since you're targetting the areas that I have sometimes been known to tune out of (sorry!). (I'm not suggesting I skipd over them completely (except Business Time on occasion), but I've certainly been aware that I've sometimes tuned out mentally in these areas.)

Given the 'official' tag for the podcast, the BTS stuff is the area that distinguishes you from anyone else who may happen to put out a Guild podcast so capitalising on that seems like a sensible move too. Listening to some of these guys talking about the specialities of their profession can be fascinating, even if it does make me feel guilty about the sheer amount of detailed presentation that I've missed in the show!

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

This. One thing the cast/crew interviews do is make me go back and re watch the ep to look for Kenny and others in the background or some small action or set piece that I didn't notice in my initial pass.

Honestly Erin was kind of snoody.. until I told her what  fan I was and how much I loved her and then she was like a different person.

Maybe you should have dressed up like Twiki! :)

Kenny, you should have asked her if she still can fit into her spandex, "Wilma" outfit.  ;)
