Need some thoughts on good equipment - thinking of video taping christmas this year.  I have a Canon camera.  It uses compact-flash memory so I would prefer a comparable vidcam.
Price IS an object - thinking around $500 on pricegrabber/pricescan.  If you know of some good vidcam review sites - that would just as helpful.

The two big questions are do you want it HD capable and what type of recording media do you want (tape, direct to DVD, or Flash mem.)?
