Wow, just watched this excellent horror film. Called REC it lasts for a brilliant 75 mins and is seriously worth a look.

Basically a local news team consisting of Ángela Vidal, and her cameraman, Pablo, who cover the night shift in one of Barcelona's local fire stations for the fictional documentary television series Mientras usted duerme ("As you sleep"). After filming the fire crew having dinner, hanging around playing basket ball and sleeping they suddenly get a call out for a elderly person trapped in their apartment. Two fore men rush out and the two tv crew members join them. arriving at the apartment they find several concerned residents waiting in the foyer. Two policemen are there and  they instruct everyone to stay in the foyer. The fire crew and tv crew go upstairs much to the annoyance of one of the policemen. Going into the elderly persons room they find a distressed old lady covered in blood. She begins to scream and the suddenly attacks the policeman, all hell breaks loose and as the residents, fire crew and reporters try to escape they find they are now locked in and sealed, the army wait outside, there is no way out and something in the building wants to kill them.

The great thing about this film is that is filmed like a documentary and unlike The Blair Witch film you do actually care about the people in it. This is a Spanish film co-directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza, so subtitles are needed unless you can speak Spanish. Released in Spain in November 2007 and in the Uk in April 2008 it has now come out on DVD. Alas it has already been remade (WHY!!!!!!!). Anyway here is the trailer. (THIS IS A HORROR FILM AND RATED 18 SO PLEASE BE AWARE).

Seriously good Kenny, its a shame its been remade as i am sure it wont have the energy or tension that the Spanish original has.

It looks fantastic!

Funny thing, though; the subtitles appear to be a little "sanitized".  They weren't exactly 100% true to some of what was being said on film.

Thanks for the heads-up, Meds, I'm definitely going to have to track this film down! :)

I believe there is an American version of this coming out here soon called "Quarantine".  I think.  I am positive I saw a preview of something VERY similar to this recently and it had American actors in it.
I think it was Socrates who spoke the immortal words:  I drank WHAT?

Yeah unfortunately you are right Darth. The great thing about this film is the strange European feel you get with it, and at 75 mins long it is ideal so i think you will loose that with the remake, still cant comment too much as i have not seen Quarantine.
