While I was reading Kennys recent post about "The Incredible Hulk" DVD extras, It got me thinking about DVD extras. How many of you actually watch them all? I, like most people, go out and buy the special edition collectors sets but very rarely watch everything. In fact the only films I can think where I actively watch the whole DVD are the Lord Of THe RIngs Trilogy and all the Star Trek DVD's. What about you bunch of Geek heads?

I don't watch all of them usually, but I do watch select parts.  I especially like deleted scenes, bloopers and that type of stuff.

If it's something I love.. Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, Firefly, Serenity, Harry Potter, etc... I watch everything and I listen to all commentary also.. I LOVE the extras.

Ah Yes Rico, good point. I'd forgotten about that. I pretty much always watch any deleted scenes and bloopers. Damn my forgetfulness. LOL

I can't say I've ever watched DVD commentaries although I do often play with the idea of checking out the Trek movies.

The LOTR commentaries.. there are three different ones are AWESOME.. so are the Goonies as they have a split screen so you can watch the movie and watch the much older cast sitting there talking about there experience.. it's pretty sweet.

I used to really watch the commentaries.  Not so much anymore, I think my head is bursting from all this stuff.  But I do my best.

I enjoy the special features for the most part. I can't say I have watched every special feature I have on DVD, except for Star Trek, but I do try and watch most of them. I even give the occasional commentary a whirl if it's a film I'm really interested in learning more about.

I am a total geek of the extras.  I mean, that's what I watch the most.  :)  I love learning about the scoring, the filming, the editing, the special effects, the script writing and more!  It so feeds my creativity.  I would love to be involved in producing a tv show or movie.  I could really dig that.

I've actually used things that I have seen on the extras in filming some of my own stuff, and some of the plays and musicals I write.  Very fun!

I have been and always will be, your friend.

I love the extras; the more, the better!  The special edition of the Trek films always win in the extra category- multiple commentaries, behind the scenes featuretes..  they're great!  I especially like the Okuda pop-up text commentary.  Very cool stuff!

davekill

I'll watch everything. I like to see how my favorite movies and episodes are made.

The only DVD extra I don't care for are the text pop-up commentaries.

I almost always check out the extras. I usually don't have time for all of them, but I'll almost always check out "making of" featurettes, or featurettes on the script or background story. If I really love a film or TV show, I like to watch it all, even if it takes a few days.

I have to say the latest round of extras I really enjoyed was on the Star Trek TOS Season One HD-DVD...the "Starfleet Access" picture-in-picture commentaries. Very cool!

Now that format is dead. (sigh)  Oh well. I'm guessing those features will be on the BluRay editions in a few months, thought I'll have to get a new player with profile 1.1 or 2.0

It depends on the movie.  I usually end watching at least some of the extras.  Believe it or not the DVD that I have enjoyed the extras the most on was Apollo 13.  I will sit in awe anytime an astronaut speaks and Apollo 13 has plenty of that including a commentary by Jim and Marilyn Lovell which is awesome.

I usually only watch extras for movies that I really love. However, when it comes to TV shows I live for commentary on each episode!

First thing I check before watching the movie.  Bloopers...

It depends. Lord of the Rings is the only thing I've been religious about extras on. Everything else is pretty much 'as the mood takes me' except for deleted scenes etc.

Actually, I think I've watched most of the Harry Potter extras too.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.
