Once he earned a place in the Defense Force, KoraQ's career took off.  He served with distinction during the Dominion war, and earned command of his first ship when his captain was killed during the liberation of Cardassia Prime.

Character History

Born to a working-class Klingon family, KoraQ devoted himself to becoming an ideal candidate for the Klingon Defense Force from childhood.  At the age of 7, he witnessed a brutal attack on his planet by agents of the Terran Empire.  The raiders were driven off, but not before detonating an anti-matter warhead in the planet's atmosphere, causing considerable ecological damage.  The planet was left a ruined wasteland, and the majority of it's survivors relocated to other parts of the Empire.

KoraQ's family eventually made their way to the planet Khitomer.  There, his father T'Nag forged an alliance with the planetary governor Mogh.  Together, the Houses of Gal and Mogh successfully repelled several attacks by Terran raiders, bringing honor to both houses and elevating them to the upper strata of the Klingon Empire.

T'Nag's meteoric rise in prestige was cut short due to the machinations of the cowardly Lieutenant Governer, Duras.

Jealous of the praise and power being bestowed on Mogh and T'Nag, Duras conspired with Romulan agents to bring down his political opponents.  With the help of information supplied by Duras, Romulan agents launched a sneak attack on Khitomer.  The plan was simple-- the Romulans would be driven off, but not before eliminating Mogh and his allies, leaving Duras as the new Planetary governer.  In return, Duras would provide the Romulans with a constant stream of intelligence on the Klingon Empire.

The Romulans were indeed driven off, but their plan failed.  In an act of supreme Honor, T'Nag sacrificed himself to save Governor Mogh.  In gratitude, Mogh took in T'Nag's son KoraQ, raising him alongside his children Worf and Kurn.

KoraQ, Kurn, and Worf joined the Klingon Defense Force after reaching the Age of Ascension.  The three friends rose quickly through the ranks, establishing themselves as a force to be respected and feared.

Eventually, the hated Terran Empire fell to the might of the newly forged Klingon-Cardassian Alliance.  With the support of his allies, Worf was installed as Regent for the Alliance.

KoraQ found himself in the role of Admiral, charged with protecting the borders of the Alliance and helping to stomp out hints of rebellion by the Terrans and their Vulcan allies.
