Oh you know I have to get one of these...

Limited Edition of 1,500
"Shiny!"
Animated Maquette

The word epitomizes Serenity's unsinkable engineer, Kaywinnit Lee Frye, or as she's known to friends, Kaylee.

Now for the first time, Kaylee's shining spirit is captured in this limited-edition, hand-painted, animated maquette, designed by well-known artist Adam Levermore-Rich, creator of the Blue Sun Travel Posters and the best-selling Battlestar Galactica Propaganga Posters.

The stylized statue is a delightful melding of Kaylee's two seemingly contradictory aspects – engineer savant and girly girl. Smiling blissfully, the sculpted 4.75-inch maquette portrays Kaylee in her mechanic's coveralls (complete with teddy bear patch), holding her trademark rainbow parasol and standing in her work boots on a black resin base.

Only 1,500 limited-edition "Shiny" maquettes will be made, after which this design will be retired forever. Shiny is the first in a series of QMx Little Damn Heroes™ Animated Maquettes, celebrating the spirit of Serenity's crew (and perhaps a couple of their most noteworthy enemies, as well.)

Only $49.95, this ultra-shiny, limited-edition maquette goes on sale at 12 p.m., Pacific Daylight Time, September 15, 2008, right here.

Wow that is expensive for a 4 inch thing... But it is cute, If they made a wall paper of all the upcoming ones that looked like that then I would love to have that..

Thanks for the heads-up, Kenny.  The maquette looks cool, but I agree with Darkmolerman; $50 is a little steep.  I'm kind of on the fence with this one.. Have to give it some thought..

Dan M

Very cute, but I have to agree that $50 is a bit much at that size.  If it was larger, or if the price was $30, I'd be there.  I love "cute" versions of characters.

Rico

About the same price and size as the many mini bust's they already sell.

Darkmolerman

But mini Busts or busts usually are expected to be torso or shoulder up and that is just a mini figure...

Thanks for the reminder Kenny.  I have to get a little Kaylee - I mean I named our dog after her.

Web site was acting a little goofy and slow but I got my little Kaylee ordered too!

Geekyfanboy

Just got my Kaylee.. and man is she tiny.. I guess I should have read the details of the item first.. if I knew she was this small I don't think I would have gotten her.. she's AWESOME but not worth 50 bucks.. in my opinion.

BTW.. they are doing a "Little Damn Heroes" Mal next..

billybob476

Yeah they sure do make her look nice and big in the photo.

Rico

About 5 inches right Kenny?  Yes - they are little damn heroes!  Mine shipped too.  And wasn't she only about $40?
