I finally got to view Stargate The Arc of Truth movie pretty much as I had finally watched the entire series of SG-1.  (Still a season behind with Atlantis, but nonetheless I'm watching it).

I'm going to comment on both this movie and the original Stargate Movie and the series.

When I was introduced to the Stargate universe in college from my roommate, I was extremely skeptical about the series.  I had seen parts of episodes here and there and had found it to be extremely dry and boring.  Now granted, I knew nothing about the Stargate universe.  When I had a short-lived babysitting career going, I was able to watch the first movie/episode but still wasn't getting into it.  (this was several years ago).  So when my roommate finally "shoved" me into watching the series over the school's internet network, I was still a bit not sure if I liked it.  But as I continued to watch, I really started to like it.  Probably about Season 2, I really started getting into it and couldn't wait to watch more.  Due to my roommate having a different schedule than mine, we watched Stargate at different speeds but we kept up and joked heavily about this series.  We nicknamed Tealc "The Badass" as he really is, wouldn't you agree?  The replicators were about annoying as all get out (joking here ;) )and the Goa'uld was just a great storyline.

The writing in the series is probably one of the BEST writing I've ever seen for a series.  The continuity and the HUGE overarcing stories really made it feel like a close-knit universe.  The humor, the seriousness, and technology was just top-notch.  I'm really in love with this series just as much as Star Trek.  Stargate has earned a rightful place as one of the top Sci-fi series I've seen.  And still they are not done so I'm excited to see what more they could release.

I finally got to watch Stargate the Original Movie.  It was a good movie and it was nice to see how Stargate SG-1 series had used elements from this movie to a series.  I will say this, I'm just glad Jack was a different actor in the series.  ;)  7/10

Stargate the Arc of Truth was a great movie to see how they ended the Ori threat and overall very interesting and good.  8.5/10

So that's my thoughts on the Stargate Series.  A series that I classify as just as good as Star Trek and Star Wars.

Tim,

I would agree with your assessment that Stargate is as good as Star Trek overall and sometimes even better than anything Star Trek has done. I don't think Star Wars comes near Star Trek or Stargate but that's my opinion. Not that I don't enjoy Star Wars because I do, I just don't think it has the depth of interest.

Ark of Truth was a fine direct to DVD movie and I have watched it twice now. I'm hoping Continuum will be even better. I would give Ark of Truth an 8 but not higher. I love the score for it and bougyt it direct from Joel Goldsmith site. Once you hear the score alone it really enhances your viewing experience of the film overall.
