I'm reading DC COMICS - Sixty Years of the World's Favorite Comic Book Heroes by Les Daniels. It's really quite an interesting overview of DC Comics from the first comic to the TV and movie adaptations. Anyway, it's a fun read and informative at the same time.

Reading Peter David's latest Star Trek: New Frontier novel- Treason.

Really a great book. Over the years, the cast of characters has grown on me almost as much as the TNG characters.  In some ways, possibly more.

I'd heard there was a new one but had fogotten about it. I must get hold of that. Thanks for the reminder.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

I've not read a Star Trek novel in so long. Must go through this thread and find a good series of books...

@Dangelus-  I recommend you track down the first New Frontier book and try following that series. It has enough characters and references from TNG to keep it firmly rooted in Trek continuity, while branching out enough to keep it fresh and exciting. And Peter David is one of the best pop-sci-fi writers around; his books are exciting, with just the right mix of adventure, danger, and humor.

The latest "relaunch" of the TNG books is also very enjoyable for the most part. "Death In Winter" is a good jumping-on point.  The books chronicle the post-Nemisis adventures of Picard & crew. The Borg pop up A LOT in the first few books following Death In Winter, but their presence pays off big in the Star Trek: Destiny series.

The Star Trek: Titan books are also a great series if you are a fan of Riker, Deanna, and Tuvok. The series is still fairly new, so you can still readily find most of the books in regular Brick & Mortar bookstores.

I've also found the mirror universe/alternate reality collections highly entertaining.  I think there are 3 or 4 out right now, all taking place either in the Mirror Universe introduced on the Trek TV shows, or in other alternate timelines.

Yes, go with the Titan books or the New Froontier series.

I find some of the latter series stretches credibility a little at times but every series has weaker and stronger links and on the whole I've enjoyed this one.

I have really enjoyed the Enterprise Books The Good that Men Do and Kobayashi Maru, and looking forward to the next one. I found they picked up very good after the ending events on Enterprise.

I re-read The Good That Men do after we initially read it for our book club and really, really enjoyed it the second time around.

Kobayashi Maru picks up right after TGTMD, and very good as well. I am really liking the post Enterprise series books

Different strokes for different folks I guess because I think the post series Enterprise books are pretty awful and contrived. I read them anyway always hoping the next book will be better but alas that has not been the case.

Now I started re-reading the Raymond Benson James Bond novels beginning with Zero Minus Ten. Benson's books read more like movie novelizations and he seems to stick more with the movie formulas than Gardner did. That said though his books really are quite good. If you read them in release order you find that his writing and storytelling skills improve with each book. I would especially recommend his book High Time To Kill. It's one of the most exciting thriller books I have read.

I'm with you Joe and Jeff.  I like those Enterprise books too.

My only issue with the first one was I had to start from scratch because the first time I went through I had trouble following all the storylines and keeping straight who was who.

I guess for me, I really enjoyed Enterprise a lot, and was very disappointed when it was cancelled. I was a bit like Joe, in that it took a little bit to get into TGTMD, but after I did the story really clicked with me. Might be because I really have a wanting for more stories in the Enterprise time frame. I am usually a person who does not like storylines that involve Romulans, but so far I have enjoyed both of these books.

Like you said, different strokes for different folks. I have been lucky so far in that after getting back into Trek books a few years ago, the only real Dog for me was the Titans Series Orions Hounds. I just started reading the Destiny series, and I am only a few chapters in, but so far really enjoying it.

The Destiny series is probably some of the best Trek books I have ever read (and I read most of them). David Mack is a superb author and really should be investing himself in original material. I think he could make a lot more money than he has from Trek. Anyway, the Destiny trilogy is a must read as far as I'm concerned!

I've been  reading the Ender's Game series. Chris

I just finished the first post-Voyager book, Homecoming.  While waiting for the book that concludes it, The Farther Shore, to arrive, I've started on the Star Trek Mirror Universe compendium, Glass Empires.
