recently finished Death in Winter, where Beverly Crusher travels to a planet in romulan territory, she goes missing, and Picard has to go find her. i thought it was a great book and would definitely recommend it.

I'm reading Death in Winter now too.  It's the first in the recent TNG "refresh" that picks up after the events of Nemesis.  It leads up to a huge Borg invasion that has some dramatic repercussions across the Federation, including the deaths of some major characters from the series.  So far I'm not that happy with it, it's definitely not the TNG I came to love.  I'll never understand while the writers of Nemesis felt the need to spread the core cast all over the galaxy.  The Enterprise is just not as interesting with only Picard, Geordi, and Worf left from the original crew.  How hard would it be to bring back Data, at least for the fiction?  It's already not canon...just do it.

Inheritance...the final book in the Eragon series.  Not bad so far.

Finished Death in Winter and started the next book, Resistance. So far I'm enjoying Resistance much more,it takes place on the Enterprise which in retrospect I realized was what I disliked so much about Death in Winter...the Enterprise was in dry dock for that whole book, and the ship is so much like the fifth Beatle (if you know what I mean) that it was sorely missed in that book.  Some minor spoilers inside....
Picard has finally consummated his long buried feelings for Beverly which throws an interesting element into the series now.  B4 has been disassembled and sent to the Daystrom Institute for study so it appears there's no hope for a resurrected Data, at least yet.  There's a new female Vulcan counselor on board that seems to have the hots for Worf, and Worf is the new reluctant Number One. And Picard is starting to feel his psychic connection to the Borg collective rekindled as he believes they are birthing a new queen and mounting a final attack on Earth.
This one is pretty good so far.

I'm in the middle of the book now. I've seen the mini-series which is really good. Stephen King wrote the screenplay for it so it's pretty close to the book. Of course some things had to be changed but for the most part the movie was well done.

<---Huge Stephen King fan going way way back.  I've read everything he's ever written including stuff that's never been officially published but is available through various gray market sources.  11/22/62 is probably his best book in the past ten years, and that includes the recent last three books in the Dark Tower series.  I really enjoyed it.  King's books have all been terrific lately.  Full Dark, No Stars, the novella collection from last year is absolutely great, and so are the more recent novels Under the Dome and Duma Key.  Of course the Stand ranks as one of his top books of them all, definitely in my top five favorites.  I enjoyed the mini series with Molly Ringwald and Gary Sinise, but it doesn't do justice to the book in my opinion.

Yeah, when I was a teenager I read everthing he ever wrote. I loved the Dark Tower series but I didn't read much of his other stuff. My wife got me 11/22/63 and I'm loving it, so I may go and read some recent ones I missed. I love The Stand and it's between that and the Dark Tower series for my fave, and of that series I probably liked The Waste Lands the best, with Drawing of the Three a close second.

I think my favorite Dark Tower book is the fourth, Wizard and Glass.  The last three seemed rushed and not as good as the first four.  I especially was pretty disappointed by the overall end of the series, but in general an epic work anyway.  I was pretty disappointed when the plans for Ron Howard's two films and TV series fell through.

Finished Resistance and am starting the next one, Q & A.  These relaunch books are pretty good, I'm enjoying them.  They're so short though!  I'm practically reading one a day.

I had to put DS9 Warchild down for awhile. Just not very good. Decided to get back into TNG with "A Time To Kill" which has been very good so far. I want to get into the pre Nemisis books as well starting with "Death in Winter". But I need to finish this A Time To series 1st. There are 2 more following "A Time To Kill".

Picked up the Harry Harrison Collection for the Kindle Fire - on the cheap  got 11 of his novels - including the 'Deathworld' series.  Doesn't include his Stainless Steel Rat novels - which I really love.  This guy also wrote the book 'Make Room!' - which Soylent Green was based upon.
