Hey,

Some of you may have noticed that I've been distant lately.  The reason being is I've had a really rough Spring Term.  After many talks with parents and adviser, I have decided to withdraw from college for this term and possibly next near to reassess goals. This is due to the stress and just pure bad work I've been doing with classes.

I'll be returning home this weekend and taking some time to figure out what to do next.  Prayers would be very helpful as I struggle with what next to do.

Thank you all.

Sometimes it is best to take a few years off to decide what you want out of life. I know when I got out of High School, I really did not know what I wanted to do. I took something, but it was really not for me. I worked for a few years, and when I was ready, I went back to College. I found when I went back, I was more focussed on school and learning, and did very well. The job that I was doing before I went back to school had no future, and was not a very good job, it was part of the reason I think that I took my College much more seriously, as I knew if I did not, then my future would not be great.
Good luck with your decision King, I am sure in a year or two you will discover what you want to do. Sometimes it is best to take the time to figure out what you want to do, as you are still young. Better to make that decision now, then when you are older, and might not be able to change things around as easily.

Hang in there Tim.  These are big decisions and I know how it feels.  I'm sure it will all work out.

I know how you must be feeling right now, however this isn't as horrible as it seems. I have a lot of friends who started in one major (usually in accordance with their parent's wishes), only to realize it wasn't for them. They took some time, found out what they wanted and went back. Sometimes it's hard to look past what you're doing and seeing something else you might enjoy. Some time off will help.

Also don't discount a trade as a viable option. Just because it isn't 'college' doesn't mean there's no future in it.

Good luck and don't get discouraged.

Thanks again all.

Careful my friend, sometimes you don't get a second chance.
Growing up is optional but growing old is mandatory.

Keep looking forward Tim. You are young and have a whole load of options open to you. But and yes there is allways a but, head back to college as soon as you feel you can. My biggest regret is not going to Uni. Take time out, chill out, relax but remember it's easier to learn when you are young, when you are older boy it's a pain in the backside. Keep smiling mate, always stay positive.

Take time and figure out what you want to do... but if you decided to return to school in the future, do it as soon as possible. College, for the most part, is an endurance test. And people who take breaks rarely go back. They always intend to, but life gets in the way or they lose the drive... I have two siblings who are WAY smarter than me, but they both decided to "take a break" and ultimately dropped out of school, never to return. I am the only one who stuck with it. I changed my major a few times too... no biggie sometimes you change your mind. There's nothing wrong with that. Its good to consider your options. Good luck Tim.

When I got out of high school, I knew that I wasn't ready to go to college. It's only after 12 years away from school that I felt I had matured enough for college to not be a waist of money and time for me.

Even when you are not in school, you are still learning and you can still keep reading books and journals of the subjects that you are interested in.

If and when you go back, you can go back in a better position because you know better what you want and you kept up with the things that interested you.

College is for studying and learning?  I thought it was just an excuse to party... :confused

I feel so guilty now. :blink
