Thanks guys. BTW, I'll be releasing our review of The Hunger Games book and movie tonight. It's a monster episode, but I didn't want to split it into two episodes because the roundtable discussion was so good. Hope you all will take a listen.

Anomaly: The Hunger Games
« Reply #586 on: July 10, 2012, 08:55:31 AM »
A new episode was released last Thursday: Anomaly of The Hunger Games. In this episode of Anomaly, Angela and I were joined by the entire staff for a roundtable discussion on the first book and movie in The Hunger Games trilogy. We talked about our impressions and compared the book to the film. Please be aware that spoilers abound. In addition, there are minor spoilers for Catching Fire, the second installment in the trilogy. Kasey first recommended The Hunger Games to the staff in their Women of Sci-Fi Fantasy and Fandom, two-part episode where we talked about how females are portrayed in literature, film, games and in fandom. It was a good discussion that we hope you’ll check out when you’re finished listening to this episode (be sure to start with part one before listening to part two).

Angela's birthday was last week and we celebrated by going out on the town dressed in Superhero fashion. From left to right: Supergirl (me), Thor (Steph), Suerman (Bug's Jen) and Wonder Woman (Angela). The goal was to wear street clothes that suggest a superhero's costume...it was supposed to be somewhat trendy/subtile and fun. The lighting was HORRIBLE, so the pic is sort of grainy and the shadows are not flattering... I'm such a chick for pointing that out. Anyway the pic is below. Some of our influences came from these superhero/sci-fi hero fashion sketches:

My birthday is Aug 28th. :) Angela's is August 16th. It was her b-day we were celebrating. BTW, we were interviewed on All Things Trek last weekend...it was just released. We'll be releasing it on our feed as well in a couple of weeks, but here it is if you want to listen now on the All Things Trek podcast:

She would be so happy that you caught that, Dan! LOL. She actually bought an ugly purse from Goodwill and spray painted it that color.

My "official" response is that I thought she had brought a prop hammer at first. ;)

Wow. I've never heard of most of those cartoons. Not sure whether I'm too old, uneducated or whether they simply didn't get over here. (Maybe 'most' is a bit strong but there were a fair few I didn't recognise.)

Still, it's fun to learn about them and now we'll see how good my memory is if I do ever spot them on the TV schedule.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.
