Yeah it was only the first episode of the season that was released a week earlier on Xbox then MSN.. but everything else is released at the same time.

But since you have Xbox live you get to watch them on TV and if you have HD you get to see them in HD..  :)

Yeah, I'm kind of glad that HD is on XBOX. It gives us XBOX owners a little something special to look forward to while not denying the other fans a chance to see the regular version. I could understand why some non XBOX owners would feel cheated, but I think that having the guild in HD should remain an 360 exclusive. If you could get every version everywhere at the same time, there wouldn't be much point in having it on 360 as well unless you got that added perk.

Geekyfanboy

You nailed it Chris.. that is part of the deal with Microsoft... But only for a month after four weeks The Guild can do whatever they want with SD or HD episodes.

Rico

I disagree Chris.  Look at it this way, this is a business to make money.  Exclusive content has slowly slipped away in all areas the last few years.  Very few video game titles anymore are even exclusive to one platform.  I sincerely doubt having the new episodes of "The Guild" available in HD exclusively via XBOX 360 live will sell any more 360's.  So why not allow others share in a higher quality version of these episodes as they come out?  Heck, I'd even pay for them on some type of subscription basis via iTunes, or Amazon.  I did find out the other day that since I bought the DVD of season 2 of "The Guild" from Amazon.com, that I am able to download season 2 episodes from there in HD to my TIVO or PC.  This isn't some huge thing like owning the rights to all The Beatles music where having that say on iTunes might very well sell a few more iPods.  This is a fairly small production that should be trying to get the best version of it's content out in as many ways possible.  And not just little Flash versions of it.

Well Rico you must have missed my post right above yours.

This is the deal that The Guild made with micrcosoft, they have a month/4 week window where they are the only person airing SD and HD versions of the show.

Also... just because you feel that the The Guild would not be worthy of getting an XBox or XBox Live there are fans out there who did buy Xbox for The Guild.... just saying

Bromptonboy

I caught up on Season 2 last night.  These are really good!  I caught Kenny's name in the credits (they flash by fast).  Kenny, have you been an extra at all?

Yeah - I know about the deal Kenny - that wasn't the point of my post.  My point was being exclusive is not the best way to make money.  Not unless Microsoft handed them a TON of money.  And I certainly didn't mean to knock "The Guild" or mean to say "it is not worthy" of getting an Xbox 360 (and keep in mind you need and Xbox 360 + Xbox Live + and HD TV).  I actually own two XBOX 360's (both sadly are up with the boys at college right now).  I was saying I honestly see few people running out to Best Buy and doing this for purposes of watching "The Guild.".  Especially since they can get streaming Flash versions the same day - for FREE.  People these days especially most likely will not do that.

Oh yeah.. Season 2 I'm the bum at the beginning of episode 3, I'm a wedding going in the BG of episode 8 and a party goer in episodes 10, 11, and 12

And in season 3 I'm in episode 1 & 2 I'm at the end of the line at Gamestop. I'm also in another episode but can't say anything yet as it hasn't aired. :)

I'm glad you enjoy it.. it's a fun series and a blast to work on.

I know you might disagree, but if they did it they way you're suggesting, why would sprint and Microsoft have a reason to put whatever funds they do, into the show? This is really no different from a broadcast show not showing up on Hulu until after it's aired. Airing in this case is a 4 week window due to it's on demand nature.

This is added value to those people the like the guild and then put out the money for xbox live. As for getting the best version of the content out there, I think that they do. On the Xbox.

While I respect your argument, the counter argument is pretty obvious. If you want to see it in the best format when it releases, why not buy an XBOX?

I also disagree with your comments on exclusive titles. They are actually alive and well. While some games do share consoles, many of the "best" games for a console are their exclusive properties.

Halo
Metroid
Mario
Gears of war
God of War
SoCom
Mass Effect

Exclusive content is far from dead and the Guild on 360 is a great selling point for the system and for the series. I have numerous people that I introduced to the guild by saying "Go to video marketplace and download the guild. You'll love it."

They go in and they get either version without having to worry about streaming or chop and they get hooked. Everything including some of the BTS stuff is all in one place with crystal clarity. If they want to promote the show in the best way, I don't see how they could do any better than the 360. The only thing that's missing is party viewing like with netflix so that you can watch it with a ton of friends from around the country.

Here are some Diehard Guild Fans... going to be interviewing some of them for the next KOTG podcast.

I've seen people buy XBOXs for sillier reasons. I hate split screen playing, so I bought a new 360 and HD TV so I wouldn't have to share the TV with my wife. Which also forces me to buy two copies of every game we play together. So, I could see and have heard of people buying a 360 for access to the guild. While it might not have been their sole driving force for the purchase, it was one of the perks that convinced them to make the plunge.

I'm going to download episode 3 right now. Hee hee. You know as soon as my xbox went live last week the first thing i did was download the avatar music video, then season 3 episode 1 and 2. Loving the guild.

Rico

Great episode 3.  Love how almost all of them now have a conflict of playing the game vs. the "real world."  Zabu is so funny.  This show always delivers!
