UNBELIEVABLE episode last night (sorry, Monday...I DVR'ed it and watched last night)...just awesome.  Lost should take frakking lesson from Heroes and ANSWERS SOME QUESTIONS AND ACTUALLY MOVE THE STORY ALONG.

Anyway...I KNEW there was more to Hiro's dad, I just knew it. Was anyone else just completely heartbroken at the end of that episode?..the interaction between HRG and Claire was great.  Maybe it just hit me cuz I have 4 girls.

Great to see a bit of the backstory.  The preview for next week looks awesome as well....can't wait.

I have to admit I was welling up near the end of this episode.  Great stuff!

i dont think he will have to forget Claire completely... that just seems so implausible... it makes more sense that the Haitian will take Claire into hiding... Thats so cool though, I can't wait to see what happens

yeah....what I took away was that the Haitian took any memories of the plot to hide Claire and of his (HRG's) involvement in it....sort of an hero-made plausible deniability......The Haitian, by this time, is considered persona non-grata, right?  HRG can now "truthfully" say:  "I was briniging her in and next thing I remember I am laying here in this hospital with a gunshot wound in the abdomen".

plan being, I am sure, for the bosses to put the peices together and to think..."That damnable Haitian kidnapped her"

That's my take anyway.

that makes sense... that way Claire's dad can continue to work for the company and no ones the wiser.... (cept for the Haitian...)

But they could still use any memory of Claire to track her.  These are resourceful and ruthless people.  They might be able to use the fact that Claire had a thing for Teddy Bears as a piece of information, or perhaps a way that Bennet used to talk to her, or her friendship with Zack.  Anything that Bennet might remember can get used; if it's ALL gone then there's nothing to use.

Though I have feeling this debate is purely accademic for a while as I don't expect to see Bennet again for a while.

oh no, i disagree completely... Why would HRG need to forget Claire completely? The "Paper Company" can't use a teddy bear collection to figure out where Claire is... They can only use information about her plans to figure out where she is... how could they use irrelevant memories to find her? I'm not following your reasoning... The company will most likely interrigate HRG, figure out that he is a dead end, and allow him to continue his work...

Side note...

A new clip from the upcoming Spider-Man 3 will debut during the March 5 episode of NBC's Heroes, which airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT, then will be available online in an extended HD clip at NBC.com.

Well thinking in the broadest sense, any detail can be useful in finding someone, even the most insignificant appearing.  How could a fascination with teddy bears help them track her now?  I've no idea; I'm not an expert on tracking.

But I do know that on all the cop shows they alway say "Can you think of anything else?  Even something minor might help us".  Though maybe they're just fishing.  *shrug*

I would be most worried that perhaps a remembered conversation about somewhere she might like to go "someday" would be dangerous.  Take the "command power" that the girl used to have.  Someone says:  Tell me the place Claire dreamed of going" and he spurts out Wriggly Field.  Okay is she likely there now?  No but it's a clue as to where she could be eventually.....

I dunno... it just seems like it's possible that they could use any bit of information so the surest way to leave them nothing is to leave nothing to find.

However I'm also not so optimistic that "the company" will keep Bennet around.  He harbored a mutant, for a good while.  It's possible that even with his memory wiped they can put that together.  And we've seen, they don't "release" employees in the traditional sense.  I'm pretty sure his family is safe now (wife and Lyle) but he's dead.

Just my predictions.  We shoudl find out next time we see him.

I doubt they could seriously remove all references to Claire since she has been part of his life for 14 years.  Removing memories of her would undoubtedly change his very personality given that his growing fond of her has probably kept his 'humanity' intact.  Without Claire, he would probably end up bitter like Claude...

I think he had concocted an 'exit strategy' for Claire for quite a while just in case something like this happened to her.  So 'going deep' I think would refer to removing all the thoughts pertaining to that plan of action.

Besides, the Haitian would have had ot remove all memory of Claire from both her Mom and Kyle, not just HRG, to make Claire truly disappear.

I have another thought unrelated to Claire....

Since Mr. Thompson (Eric Roberts) says that they always pair up a regular operative with a 'special', then that means he has a special as a partner as well.  So I am curious if Mr. Nakamura (Takei) is a special and is Mr. Thompson's partner.  That would also explain Hiro being a special since these abilities are hereditary.

Tim Kring, creator of NBC's hit series Heroes, told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming second season will constitute a new volume in the multi-volume series, with new characters and an entirely new storyline. "If you remember, the opening of the pilot pronounced the episode as the beginning of Volume One," Kring said in an interview. "Volume One comes to a conclusion at the end of episode 23, and Volume Two starts with the opening of season two. And Volume Two is a different story."

Kring added: "We could have new people and new storylines and new ideas and new threats and new bad guys and new heroes. So I would prepare the audience for that idea, that it's not just a continuing serialized storyline about only these people. It's a little more the 24 model than the Lost model."

The first season of Heroes is exploring what happens when a disparate group of ordinary people discover they have extraordinary abilities and attempt to save New York from disaster.

"Heroes needs to evolve, and if we are positing an idea that this is happening all over the world to many, many people, then we get to see some of those people and see how their story fits in."

Kring also confirmed that some of the current heroes just might not survive this season, but added: "Many of your favorites will live to fight again." Heroes airs on Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

I was just reading about the Kring interview.  That does sound like a bad turn but its understandable to do stories on other people "on the list".   There are definitely characters I would miss...guess we will have to wait until next year.

Hey, the clip of next week where Linderman is revealed.   Remember the actor at the end of Matrix 2 -- the creator of the matrix ??   Don't know but the white hair and beard looked familiar.

Man, this show just beats them all.  Definitely getting the DVD's

GO HRG man -- who, on IMDB, is simply listed as "Mr Bennet".

Geekyfanboy

Speaking of DVD.. Season One is going to be released in August.

Picard_delta_5

so i was reading Sci-Fi magazine and it had a lengthy article about heroes in it... The most interesting thing I read was the Q & A section... Someone asked whether we would get to see the future hiro that we saw talking to peter on the train.... They said that episode 20 is scheduled to be all about future hiro... So im looking forward to that
