I think this season has been excellent.  Only the very last episode for me was a bit easy to predict what was going a little, but I still enjoyed the episode.  I think Atlantis is still an amazing show and deserves many more seasons.  I'm going to miss it a lot after it ends.

I agree 100 percent Rico.  This has been the best season so far.  I really will miss it.

Atlantis has never held the magic for me that SG-1 had. Not that I don't enjoy the show because I do but not like I did SG-1. To me it's been more of a settling for what Stargate I could get because, like Star Trek, some Stargate is better than no Stargate.

My enjoyment is mostly for story content and not because of the cast. To me the casting was always weak and I think there are way too many Rodney centric stories. Shepherd is played too much like O'Neil instead of finding his own identity. Ronan is the shows T'ealc but he is nowhere near as endearing to your heart. Getting rid of Weir was a huge mistake in my opinion as Carter seemed out of place in the mix. I never have cared for the Xena wannabe Teyla. Killing off Beckett didn't bother me so much because he had a good death and if I was going to be written out of a show that's how I would have wanted it. Ford hung in longer than I would have let him because he was the weakest link in the cast during season one.

The most interesting characters imho are the recurring roles and characters. Dr. Zelenko, Colonel Caldwell, the various Wraiths etc. These gave the show depth and interest.

And lastly the sfx are very very good for a TV show. I'm not sure I will actually miss Atlantis but I do hope that Stargate Universe is an improvement over Atlantis. I don't know if the magic of SG-1 can ever be repeated in a Stargate show but I'm hoping for the best.

Oh, don't get me wrong, its still a very good series.  I like it....but I feel I prefer SG-1 more often.  As Kevin said, some of the characters like the wraith and Dr. Zelenko gave depth and interest to the show.  Weir should never have been killed.  I really dislike that they did that.

Well, I still love it.  Especially Sheppard and McKay.

Zelenka is one of my favourites too.

I agree that this season has been well written and put together, particularly for Sheppard and Rodney and that it holds some of the best episodes ever. It's been at the expense of some of the other characters though. I think the writers have just about given up on Teyla - despite her getting to do Michael in last week. If they could maintain the standard but use the main cast a little more it might be even better.

But I'm griping too much - how can I really criticise a season with stories like The Shrine, Daedalus Variations and the Daniel Jackson/Asgard two parter.

Sad to see it go from a regular slot. :tealc Sci-Fi/MGM

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Liked this weeks, even if it was atypical and off the base. Finding out that all physicists seem to be more like McKay than not may be a little unlikely but it is funny.

I assume the TV personality guys really are TV personalities in the US? I've never heard of them.

Bill Nye (the skinny scientist) was very popular here for a time.  He had a show called Bill Nye the Science Guy and did a great job explaining scientific concepts with some cool examples.  My kids used to watch his show all the time.

It was my favorite show when I was young.  I was surprised to see him on Atlantis as I tried to remember who he was and then Rodney said it and I was like "Woah, no way!".  It was a very good episode.

I hope the character he played was more of a characature than a real reflection of himself!

I agree that the show will be missed but I am very curious about the new spinoff as well. Definitely the best season this year.

just now watching Friday's episode, so far, very cool.  I like the Wraith ships, they remind of me of dry ice and Halloween with lizard people.  SLEESTACKS!

Back to the more 'traditional' running round a wraith ship with the team in tow this week. Good to see, if not a little formulaic to begin with.

Loved the crashing ship and the whole new look at the wraith warriors though. Teyla's not exactly back 'front and centre' but at least she gets to run around with a gun this week and see a little bit of action.

Seeing the stargate at the end does remind me that this is supposed to be a show called 'Stargate something' even though we rarely see a gate :)

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

What did everyone think of this week's episode?

To me, it was a good show and such, but a tad pointless.  A guy got stabbed and a random woman shot.  Don't get me wrong I still liked it, but overall a generally pointless episode.

Saw this last episode...and am a bit disappointed.

I'm sorry, but I think the writers had "CSI" on the brain with this one.

Series is definitely ending roughly...any thoughts on it?
