I am doing research for an upcoming series I'm working on.

What would you say the qualities of a Super Hero are?

Well I guess that depends, are we talking classic 50's super hero or modern super hero?

Well qualities that I look for in a super hero would be the following. They must be absolutely good and kind hearted, defend those that can not defend themselves, first priority above all is the safety of the people. It helps if they have a super power but it's not necessary.

It can be both the older ones and the new ones.

Good stuff so far!~

Well I guess a super hero could be anyone who helps or protects others in an extraordinary way. They would have to be motivated to protect others, the motivation could be anything, even something negative.

They sacrifice for others—I think that is essential in a superhero. They have to give up something of themselves to serve mankind. Their freedom, their lives, their love life, their true identities.

And obviously they don't have to have super powers. There were several superheros who were just normal people in silly suits equipped with fancy gadgets. I think a superhero's one true talent is that they are more motivated than the average individual to right a wrong, protect and or save the weak and inspire others to do the same.

This is what I can think of right now. A super hero, despite his super powers, has the ability to empathize with the average person. She only uses her super powers when it's necessary and doesn't intend to maim or kill her enemies or transgressors. Such a person also respects the average citizen.

Can I have your permission to share comments in a sermon I am doing this Sunday?

First and foremost a superhero has to be of the highest moral character. Sound in judgment, slow to wrath. Quick to respond to others needs. It helps to have superpowers but not necessary. I think the pulp hero Doc Savage is a fine example of a hero without powers. He's intelligent, resourceful, commands respect in his own person. He's strong morally and physically. He's loyal and engenders loyalty and trust from others. He's a man of integrity and willing to lay down his life for friends and country. He never kills if it can at all be avoided but desires to see criminals rehabilitated.

Here is the Doc Savage creed.

QuoteLet us strive every moment of our lives to make ourselves better, and better, to the best of our ability. So that all may profit by it. Let us think of the right, and lend our assistance to all who may need it. With no regard for anything but justice! Let us take what comes with a smile, without loss of courage. Let us be considerate of our country, our fellow citizens, and of our associates in everything that we say and do. Let us do right to all, and wrong no man.

Now those are words that can affect a young person's life!
