What recordable DVD format is better?

Hey all,

Got a VCR-DVD Burner combo and want to transfer a few things here and there.  Which format is better or is there really a difference......DVD-R or DVD+R.  I know the burner is multiformat so I can use either but I was just trying to draw any experience other member may have had.

That's very cool.  Which one/model did you get?  I'm planning on getting the Panasonic sometime soon.  I suggest DVD+R.  In my experience more DVD players seem to accept it.  But these days they both work pretty well if it's a good burner.

We do a lot of recording of DVD's at the church and here at home, most of the DVD+R work on people's machines.  We didn't have the same luck the DVD-R's.

So, all we buy are the DVD+Rs.   They work great.

OK Cool.....actually the pack of DVD's I have now are the "+R" so I will just stick with that.

I have a Toshiba model....and what is cool is that the DVD player will upconvert DVD's to near HD quality (an actual HD-DVD player is still a bit away for us) so the movies look great.  Any of my favorite movies that I have on VHS I will actually go out and purchase the DVD but some the others (my MST3K collection and some lesser movies) I will just burn and see how they turn out.

Both should work good dude.  I use tons of blank DVD's.

Same here, and I've never noticed a difference between the two.  Though, I'd go with "+R" based on Rick's response.
