I am a Metal head at heart....as a matter of fact I saw Megadeth this past Saturday night...awesome!!  That said, I am blessed to have a musician for a father who has instilled a deep appreciation for music of all types.  It is not unusual for me to buy Slayer, Fergie, N.W.A. and Mozart in one trip to the store.

That is funny that you mention that, cause I love heavy metal too.  It's my favorite, but I also like all kinds of music, and I too can buy hard stuff and classical all in one shopping trip.

Music is so cool.

One of my old faves was Ronni James Dio or Iron Maiden.  I'm not in to them much anymore, but I found that Saint and Barren Cross sounded similar in their presentations- more in line with where I'm at now.  I really dig POD and Disciple.  My goodness those boys rock the house.  In fact, I think I will go and listen to Disciple right now  or maybe East  West.

East West, now there's a crazy band.  They get a lot of flack for being so heavy and a Christian band at the same time.  Oh, and don't worry, this isn't one of those videos that bash you over the head trying to convert you.  You guys all know I take it real easy around here with that.  It has it's place and I'm not ashamed for what I do or stand for, but I'm not on this forum to try and convert you.  So don't worry.  Just thought I would show you this crazy band.  They rock.-- The video's not that good quality or creative, but you can hear what they sound like.

POD is pretty crazy too.

EastWest is really cool, I am gonna try and pick them up.  I have always wanted to try and find really heavy Christian metal because I love the music and the message.  One of the heavier Christian bands that I loved but I don;t think they exist any longer was Vengeance Rising which I will try and embed here (I have never done it so we shall see).  The speed and voice put a lot of people off but I love to headbang and headbang to love.

EDIT:  It didn't like the embed for some reason.  Oh well....Google them if you're interestred

I like the 80's Metal as well. I am a big Iron Maiden Fan, and still listen to them to this day, and actually the only music I have on my Ipod right now besides some Star Wars scores. They had some amazing concerts back in their heyday. I liked Dio as well when I was growing up, and had a few of his CD's, though I stopped listening a long while back, as they got less and less enjoyable. I probably have over 100 heavy metal CD's, though besides the Maiden, I have not bought anything new in the past few years, guess I am really just stuck on the 80's and early 90's sound. I really liked Megadeth back in the 80's with their first few albums, as they had some really good riffs. I liked Metallica as well, but more the early stuff up to the Black Album, then they lost their intensity for me. I will shamefully admit I liked a lot of the Glam Metal bands as well such as Motley Crue, Ratt, Twisted Sister, etc etc. Actually I am looking forward to Van Halen touring, and they are supposed to be hitting our city on the opening part of their tour, so hopefully they make it and don't breakup before hand.

Besides that, I will listen to whatever is on the Radio for Rock and sometimes pop if the wife has it on a top 40 station in the car.  I like listening Movie Scores but have fallen behind a bit on those the past few years, so will try and get back to picking up at least one score each month.

Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Crosby Stills & Nash, Beatles, esp. John Lennon, Simon & Garfunkel, Van Morrison, and the good ol' Grateful Dead. :)

I listen to pretty much everything.  Some of my all time favorites:  The Beatles, Alan Parsons, Supertramp, ABBA, U2, Duran Duran, and many others.  I love movie music as well.  Soundtracks and individual songs from movies are a big part of my my collection.  I even like some current pop stuff too like Kelly Clarkson and Pink.  Once in awhile I'll listen to some classical as well.  Good to draw or paint to.  So I have a pretty wide range of taste.

P.S.  But in the last few years I probably listen to various podcasts most of all.   ;)

Oh, what a great question. Music is a great way to learn about people.
I have a very eclectic range in music. I'm in Moyer's boat as far as what I believeâ€"I won't try thump you with a Bible either. I and am not ashamed to admit that sang alto in a Baptist choir for several years. I sang in a trio, and I sang back up for a Christian rock band a few times...that was fun. I also play the fiddle in a group on Sunday morning a few times...though I'm a bit rusty these days. I love choral music, Christian Rock, Blue Grass, Blues, Jazz, Classic Country, Heavy Metal, Indi Rock, Pop Rock, Glam Rock, Movie Soundtracks....If it has good harmony or a great score I'll listen to it.

A few that I hadn't mentioned in previous posts:

John Williams....musical genius in my opinion.  NO music evokes as many images and emotions as a good John WIlliams score...well maybe that's just cuz I am a movie-phile but still.  A few of my favorites from him:  Star Wars, Superman, Indy, Jaws, Harry Potter, Midway, 1941 and the list goes on.

I am a also a big fan of marches and who can be a fan of marches without being a fan of John Philip Sousa....some of the greatest solidly American marches ever.

80's Top 40/One hit wonders:  the two are usually one and the same anyway but I grew up in the '80's so any number of songs has a fantastic nostalgic feel to them.

More later as I think of them.

Oh, I am all about '80's alternative English complaint pop! The Smiths, Depeche Mode, The Cure, New Order, et al.!

Hey guys!

I am into all kinds of rock. From rockabilly to nümetal, I love all of that. I also listen to a lot of soundtracks (sci fi/fantasy) and lots of foreign pop like Japanese or Chinese.
