Looking for a sci fi costume

Hey there folks.  I'm a subscriber to the podcast and wanted to pop on here since I was pondering something that is probably right up the alley of some of the folks here.  I saw a lot of great costumes at Comic Con this last weekend and it reminded me that it's never too early to get ready for Halloween.  I raspberry at my fellow adults who think they're too good to dress up at work and Halloween parties.  It's about three months from now, and I normally start worrying about getting a costume a month to a month and a half from so I'm willing to put in a bit more money than I would normally would for a quality costume.  What I am looking for is uniforms.  I'd love to get a dress uniform of a TNG or later era starfleet officer uniform -OR- an Imperial officer uniform.  What can I say?  I love them. 

I'd love to get a good looking one if there is a place that sells any.  I mean something that'd look pretty authentic... like some excellent Klingon folks I saw strolling the con.   :klingon

Lots of stuff, kind of expensive, but hey.... it's the real thing!

Hey there Moyer.  Thanks for that advice.  You know sometimes you're so close to the forest you can't see the trees.  I didn't even think of ebay as a place to buy costumes from Star Trek or Star Wars.  I have bought other things off there though, like my spiffy football jerseys (the real ones, not those fake ones!)  :)

After some thought the other night I decided to go for a Imperial officer costume.  I looked around online and actually found some nice looking tunics and caps.  All I need to do now is look for some boots and slacks.  Slacks should be easy.  Boots a little tougher since they're pretty much not unlike old Wehrmacht jackboots.  I will have to keep my eyes peeled online for some nice looking reproductions.  :)

By the way Rico, because of your podcast I have been sneaking off to Fry's electronics each week and buying another DVD season of TNG.  Stop me before I get to Voyager because those are $100 each!   :dstar

A good friend of Mine has an Imperial Officer Uniform, and is probably the one he wears the most for events, as it is more comfortable then Stormtrooper armour. You might want to check out the 501st site as they have useful links for Star Wars costuming.
