From Star Trek.com....

For years, The Animated Series has been somewhat of a curio, mostly overlooked amongst all the live action Star Trek. With the release last November of The Animated Series on DVD, we felt it was time to re-examine this oversight and give the show its rightful place by weaving these fantastic stories back into the fabric of Star Trek's tapestry. We now have new Library entries for just about everything that ever appeared in the Animated Series, from Ships, to Characters, to Places and more! Plus, you will find all-new images, video clips and some new Features on the making of the show, plus a documentary essay on the historic final year of Kirk's incredible 5-year mission. You can find it all in our latest Special feature The Animated Series Gets Real!

I was always annoyed at how this show was treated once I found out about it.  It's a cartoon, and Paramount doesn't consider it part of official canon, but that doesn't mean it should be swept under the rug.  It works nicely as a fourth season to Star Trek if you don't mind the change from actors on sets to animation. 8)

MAn I loved watching this series on Saturday mornings when I was a kid. Of course back then when it wasn't showing there was no way to see it. I devoured the Star Trek Logs by Alan Dean Foster when they came out.

It all was made good when they came out with the dvd's last year. I have loved watching them all again. If you haven't seen these, and love Trek...you really will be doing yourself a favor by getting the dvd set.

I bought the VHS tapes when they were released and then when VCD techonolgy came along I captured them and archived them on VCD to play on DVD player. Now I own the DVDs and am thankful to have a little better quality then my captures turned out.
