Just downloaded this week’s Pod cast into my ITunes. I usually play the first few minutes before I upload to my IPod and was surprised and honored to hear the audio intro I sent you yesterday. Thanks very much for including me. I listened and enjoyed so many of your weekly casts I wanted to be able to give something back so thanks!

Went and played the Podcast to my wife Tammy who does not really pay much attention to Podcasts but after playing my intro I went to stop it and she said “Wait A Minute! I Want to Listen to This!” A testament to your talents, sure she was pleased to hear my intro included but she was immediately sucked into your show about Cartoons and was hooked! I got her hooked in the 90’s on TNG and brought her to some of the New York conventions where in her first she met Brent Spiner whose character DATA she was very fond of.

Your first cartoon sound intro really got to me because you touched on another of my dearest memories, the Gerry Anderson shows. Last year I ordered and got the box sets of Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray and Capitan Scarlet and the Mysterons. Being somewhat of a music enthusiast the music of the Gerry Anderson shows where all done by a gentleman named Barry Gray. http://ufoseries.com/barry/ This sweet little English guy was responsible for all the very big sounding music for these shows including the shows UFO and Space 1999 and he co-authored the theme for the Avengers. I wanted to suggest that you may want to devote an episode to all these English shows of the 60’s and Seventies. Like the Gerry Anderson shows, plus the early Dr. WHO, The Avengers, and The Prisoner.

Another suggestion for a Podcast was you may want to have a show that talks about the early cartoons of the 60’s that went on to be Anime! I mean the really early ones like Astroboy, Tobor the 8th man, and Gigantor! (Alright Speed Racer too) These also have great memorable theme songs.

Also, and this is really dateing myself, do you know anything about a series of cartoons called the Adventures of Colonel Bleep, Squeak, and Scratch?

Don't forget The Amazing Three, Marine Boy and Prince Planet!

Colonel Bleep rings a vague bell. Can't put my finger on it. Do you remember how Tobor The 8th Man replenished his energy?

I remember something about a professor he had to see. It's just to long ago. There are also some samples on YouTube.

Thanks for remembering

Unfortunately, that doesn't ring a bell.

8th Man would reach into his pocket, pull out a familiar metal container which would hold cigarettes. He would light one and smoke it. I kid you not. I remembered that from when I was a kid. When I bought the VHS tape years ago, it was confirmed.

Glad you you enjoyed the podcast and I was happy to play your intro as well.  I'm up on some of the Gerry Anderson shows but not all the ones you mentioned.  Definitely going to do a Space: 1999 show sometime.

It was very much for us kids back then. Someone on Youtube stated it might have been one of the first Saturday Morning Chartoons shot in color. They where made here in Florida in the late 1950's in Miami of all places. It was light but it was SciFI.

The sad fact is they are all quite OLD but I believe they may have inspired what came after.

I use to see Colonel Bleep on WOR Channel 9 in New York on the Claude Chirshner and Clowny show. Like I said, really OLD.
