Show #106 - a special event cast

Pod/Video cast #106 is up!  I decided to take a crack at a little video tonight.  The quality is so-so (I need a good video camera) but it let me run through the process.  This is pretty basic - but I had fun.  Let me know what you think.

Hehe, nice vidcast, Rico! I think Sinise was a great choice for McCoy. I can't believe I never saw the resemblance before today. Man, it's uncanny!

Oh, and by the way, video editing on PCs ain't that bad. You need to get used to MovieMaker crashing every other minute, but besides that, it's not that bad... It's what I use to make my vids, anyway. (mostly because I don't have a choice!  :D)

Yeah - that's the trouble I have with Windows Movie Maker too - crashes.  I've been tinkering with Sony Vegas for video editing too.  It's kind of cool - but a bit complex for the novice.  The main trouble is getting the wmv file converted over to MPEG 4 for iTunes and iPOD use.  Any suggestions for that?

Well, it's hard to say. If you want to go for a free one (and who doesn't) than the only good one I know of is SUPER:

That's what I use, and it works fairly well... for freeware. As for the not-so-cheap ones, I don't really know much about them.... :-\

my itunes downloaded it, but I can't find it on my ipod anywhere!

any suggestions? 

I've looked in podcasts, video podcasts, Rick Dostie and so on... but nope, I have your test one, but not your new one!

I am feeling deprived!  I need my sci fi fix...

Unless you have a video iPOD it won't be put there.  This was a Video cast only - not an mp3 file.  You should be able to play it in iTunes on your PC.

yeah, I have a 30 gig video ipod, and I saw your test run.  I guess it must be on my end.  I'll try and work on it tonight.

Hmmm....that's odd.  Let me know if you get it to work.  I don't have a video iPOD - just have the color photo one.

Save the file as an mp4 file Moyer and Spidey.  That's what I had to do when I downloaded the file to watch it on my PC.

Yes, try changing the extension to .mp4 on the file and see if it works better that way on your video iPODs.  Sorry about the file format trouble.  I'll try and do better next time.  Please continue to post if that helps and any other glitches.  Still fine tuning on the video side.  Thanks for the help gang!   :)

Well, a great podcast!  One minor problem, after downloading and then wanting to listen to it away from my computer, my IPOD NANO didn't have it, thus I remeber, it was VIDEO.  WHAA.  lol.  So that would be my only problem with video casts.  Otherwise, I did watch it and it was a great podcast and the resemblence between the three is very interesting.

I got mine to work by changing it to mp4.   I downloaded it directly from the podcast notes and then dumped into my itunes. 

Great podcast, very fun.  Amy and I watched it together.  She thinks we are both geeks.  :)  I take that as a compliment.  :)
