As I fast approach podcast #100 I have a few ideas.  One thing I want to do on the show is have a section on "What Star Trek has meant to you."  What I want is a short audio file of 2 min. or less of the listeners telling me what "Star Trek" has meant to them over the years.  Maybe it has just been some fun entertainment, maybe it has inspired you in some way, or maybe it's something more.  I really want to make a different and memorable Podcast for show #100 and I thought this would be one good section for it.  Right now #100 should come up by about the end of Jan. so the sooner these get sent to me the better.  Just put something like Podcast #100 in the subject of the email.  You can also call the voicemail line:  206-88-TREKS.  THANKS!

edit ---  DATE is set for this show =>  record 1/27,  release 1/28!

I sent you a voice mail which you played on a show a while ago about this exact same topic. Go dig it up and put in my $.02! :)

I hope you got mine Rico, I was having some email issue the other day, so not sure if you got it or not.

These are the one's I have from members here so far:

JediJeff, Angela/Jen, Moyer777, Darth Gaos, PepperDude, Wso32, Chrystabel, Keozen, wasdman, and a couple others from non-forum folks.  Ok - so I still want a few more.  And Kenny - did you send one yet?  Hope I didn't miss it.  Thanks for all the great comments/audio gang.  I'm really looking forward to the LIVE show Saturday.

Well I finally sent one through to Rico - hope you have got it!

I have just been using primitive sound recorder and didn't realise it had a 60 second limit.. so I cut out heaps of what I wanted to say (and I am not very good at these things anyway :( ).

Anyhoo, here's what I really wanted to say in written form:

G'day Rico and all the listeners of Treks in Sci-Fi!

Congratulations to Rico on 100 wonderful podcasts of the show!
I know a lot of effort and work goes in to our weekly (and
sometimes more) dose of Trek and Sci-Fi and I wanted to thank
Rico for his hard work throughout the last 100 episodes!

It is hard to express what Star Trek means to me. I grew up
in the 1970's and remember the animated series and re-runs
of the original series, but being so young I think at that
point I was more interested in the space ships and aliens
and so forth.

It wasn't until the 80's as a teenager and beyond that I
feel I started to apprieciate more of the vision that
Gene Roddenberry had in mind for the future. I think as a
kid seeing things such as a black woman and a Russian as
part of the crew were just accepted, in the way only a innocent
child can accept. Obviously when I was older I realised how
unusual these were for the times.

I think the main message for me from Trek is/was hope. Hope
we would have a better future without (hopefully!) war,
poverty, greed and so on and that different people COULD
work together.

I found I felt for Data and Spock - outsiders, if you
will, searching for that human experience, or at the very
least fitting in with the rest.

While some other Sci-Fi is perhaps a little more realistic
and "gritty" in its depiction of the future, I will always
have a fond spot for Star Trek, which was one of the first
shows to capture my imagination and give hope for a better
world in years to come.

Thank you again Rico, and I look forward to the next 100
episodes!
