Its not the amount of megapixels anymore its the quality of the camera.....the new iPHONE Camera & its technology smokes the competition.

I'll reserve my judgment until I actually see prints from the phone but your statement is inaccurate. There are three main components in cameras that determine quality. The sensor being the most important aspect and the sensor needs megapixels and the more megapixels the more detail will be picked up on the sensor. Thirdly the lens must be good quality. Now since I sell cameras I can tell you for sure that a lens the size of a pencil eraser is never going to produce pictures of real quality. Only acceptable quality. I have seen photos made from every phone out there over the last four years and I can honestly tell you that Iphone photos, in general, are pretty poor quality. Nowhere even near pocket camera quality. The Samsung S5 has the best photos I have seen printed so far. The HTC One M8 does a pretty fair job in a lot of ways. IPhones have to have perfect or near perfect conditions to get printable quality copies and I have seen nothing yet that indicates any substantial change in their sensor technology to improve that. Eight megapixels is pretty poor by most camera standards. I can only imagine that it's a generational thing in an acceptance of mediocre (like mp3s vs CD) quality. As I have told so many of our customers that phone pictures are made to look at on an LCD screen and never meant to be printed. I know firsthand though that the Galaxy S5 creates far more good photos than the Iphones do. The next generation of Galaxy phones I expect will be almost as good as a pocket camera for anything up to a 12X16 print. In certain cases the S5 already can do that depending on the photo. Never would I recommend any Iphone user to submit a photo larger than 8X10 and actually the majority of those look pretty "pixelated" (so don't tell me pixels don't matter). 4X6 is the best quality on Iphones and 5X7 can be OK. I work with this stuff every single day and have for over four years. So, until I see prints from the new Iphone I can't speak about it specifically but I certainly have enough experience with phones and phone print technology to be pretty skeptical that there can be any significant improvement of their photo quality.

I'm actually going to second everything you said about digital photos. lens and megapixels are the sole determining features on the quality of a non-enhanced photo. I have both a Lumia 920 windows phone with Carl Zeiss optics and a Galaxy S5, but the vast majority of my photos are taken on my 14mp Fuji. As the days turn to years, it's becoming more and more clear that there is a huge expectation gap between a pic and a picture.

They look super and I like the way they give the option on size but I find the 5 a bit too big for me as I like the 4s size. Still it's a lovely looking but of kit.

Reviews are starting to appear, I had better start avoiding them because I really want a 6 Plus. It seems like the answer to the all in one device I've been looking for, for movies, games, reading, and all my communication needs. Here's a link to the Verge review posted today:

One thing I find interesting about the review is how the author says he's less likely to pull out his iPad or laptop. The 6 Plus seems poised to really cannibalize sales of their other devices, especially the hugely popular iPad mini

Cool!  I am vascilating again on the 6 or the 6 Plus.  I want to hold both before making my decision.  Ticked off I cannot keep my unlimited data plan.

On our last upgrade cycle, we had the option of keeping the unlimited data plan in exchange for being unable to access the 4G/LTE (higher bandwidth) networks.  Have they changed that?

FWIW, we ended up adding a third phone to our plan, switching to combined 10G data, for an extra $10-20/mo. Most months we hit maybe 2G actual usage. I think once we topped 4G. That's for 3 of us...

Given that both my wife and I are eligible for upgrades, we are seriously considering upgrading her 5 and my 4s, and rotating the 5 to our daughter. Darned grown up budgeting...

What? Why not?
I was poking around the AT&T site where you can 'pre-order' the 6 or 6 Plus, each time I went through on a test run, it would force me to change my data plan.

Ah so AT&T will throttle me if I go over 3-5GB, I am pretty sure they are already doing that, I've gotten the occasional message about going close to that limit.

I am going to hit the AT&T store on the way home from work.  Once I figure out which size I prefer, I will probably pick it up.
