This week, Rick Moyer and Jedi Jeff cover the various versions of the Enterprise that we have seen over the years.  They also talk collectibles, there's a Vartok music segment and much more.  Thanks to all of you guys for doing another great job on the podcast!

I'm happy the the above 'Ships named Enerprise' video recognized the XCV 330 ring ship.
It must get overlooked since it was only a warp-2 passenger liner - but an Enterprise non the less :)

You guys mentioned the familiar food replicators but do you remember the earlier technology available on the NX01?
It was the protein resequencer which could be programmed to replicate a more limited menu as well as boots and uniforms.

Besides the TOS Enterprise, I liked the look of the Enterprise-C.
It would have been a fine ship to serve on if not for the exploding workstations.

Nice music segment Vartok!

Enjoyed your podcast guys. Lots of fun hearing about all the different Enterprise ships. And it was Sulu's daughter and there is a pretty good book called the Captain's Daughter which is worth a read. It was also Kirk who said "My God, Bones, what have I done." Bones replies "What you had to do, what you always do, turn death into a fighting chance to live."
You got me thinking about that quote and I remembered it pretty closely but I did double check it on my DVD. It is sad watching the ship blow up.
I would say my favorite ship is the Enterprise A. If I picked a STNG ship it would be the E.
I also liked that video. Is the G and J from the online game?
I also hope you guys get together and talk about other Trek ships. Would love to hear what you have to say about the STNG era Romulan warbird. I love that ship!

I can not believe I missed the opportunity to contribute to this podcast, I am all about the ships!

Thanks guys...  we had a great time talking about her... as you can tell.  Next up, if Rico wants, we will do other ships in Starfleet.

I have been and always will be, your friend.

Regarding the changes between the pilot Enterprise and the series version, the bridge was altered to make the scale of the ship larger. And yes, only one side of the ship was detailed. Nice including the landing strut trivia! Although the same model was used for the later films, I think the ship looks terrible and the effects are lousy.

When I was in grade school way before TNG, my best friend used to talk about how the Enterprise 1701 could detach the saucer section.
But I've never heard of it having landing gear  :shocked

The plan was that the Enterprise would land on planets but that created too many technical challenges for TOS...and thus the transporter was born. :)

My understanding of the TOS and refit is that the separation was done via explosive bolts. It was a one time desperation move to use the saucer as a life boat, once you did it there was no reattaching.

The triangles indicated the landing gear on the bottom of the saucer.
I noticed the similarity in Kirks gear too.

Yeah, the Art of Star Trek book and Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise both say it was explosive bolts. There was a storyboarded action sequence from TMP where the Enterprise fights some Klingons and the secondary hull gets damaged and they separate, pretty cool.

Yep and that goes back to the TOS episode "The Apple" where they reference the maneuver and the original STAR TREK Starfleet Technical Manuel by Franz Joseph in 1975. He also referenced the landing struts.

KIRK: I'm sick of hearing that word can't. Get that ship out of there.

SCOTT: Sir, we're doing everything within engineering reason.

KIRK: Then use your imagination. Tie every ounce of power the ship has into the impulse engines. Discard the warp drive nacelles if you have to, and crack out of there with the main section, but get that ship out of there!

Thanks for the Comments all, this was a fun Podcast to do. It was also fun to find out some trivia about the ships as well. Some I had known, other I had found out well doing research

Rick and I are planning 2 more podcasts at least, one for other Federation Ships, and another for Alien Ships, so would love your contributions to them. Maybe we can convince you to co host with us :)

I look forward to the follow up podcasts. I really liked this discussion. Plus, I love Galaxy Quest so that was a neat treat too.
