Awesome!  Battle Of The Planets was a childhood favorite of mine, and I still think it's pretty kick-butt!  I re-watched a few of the non-altered episodes (Gatchaman) a few weeks ago, and the magic is still there.  I look forward to checking this episode out.  :)

Really enjoyed this one! While I didn't watch Battle of the Planets, I did watch things like Voltron, Tranzor Z and Robotech which were all very similar. Come to think of it, I may have to do a guest spot on one of those one of these days.

I really enjoyed the show during the late 70's and watched it every week.  I picked up the complete box set in the early 2000s, and you wouldn't believe the crazy money people are selling their sets for these days!!!

I have vague memories of this, but I remember loving the ship and the costumes. Your podcast jogged some memories for sure.I did see the 90's version of Gatchaman, and that was pretty good.

I have never seen this series, and for some reason never heard of it!  SO this was awesome.  WOW the theme song sounds like the Superfriends and a lot of the voices and sound effects reminded me of that show.   Can't wait to see some of these.  GREAT JOB JEFF!

I have been and always will be, your friend.

It was a lot of fun to go back and look at this show, as I have lots of fond memories of it. Hopefully everyone who saw the show likes the podcast, and also happy to introduce it to others who did not see it. Always fun guest hosting for Rico :). Thanks for the Kind words all :)

Hi Jeff, I just listen to the podcast yesterday.  Great podcast, I remember watching Battle of the Planets when I was in about 6th grade or so in the late seventies. It was shown on an indenpent station on our cable TV. it came on about 630 in the pm I think.  I thought the show had some good sci-fi adventure at the time and some cool animation.  I do remember the actors who did the voice over for Mark and Jason. Rommy Shell I do remember him playing in a TV show called Gomer Pyle USMC where he played his best friend.  Cassy Casem is best know for the Americas top 40 radio and TV show in the 80s.

I like where you pointed out how they had to change some the story and animation around in order to make the series watchable for western audiences.  I remember hearing some story in the TV Gide around the same time how TV in japan was for more violent yet the crime rate was much lower.

I defiantly  would like to see this series again as the Gacta man show.  I remember seeing the box set of DVD at a store once but was not able to buy it at he time.

Thanks for the comments Redshirt. I too would like to see all of Gatchaman as well, I have kept my eye out a bit, but always very expensive.

Sorry about taking so long to comment, I've not seen Battle of the Planets but was able to find the episodes on youtube.
Good podcast as always. I like the visual style and some of the script humor. I see what you mean about toning it down from the original Gatchaman.
The more I learn about this stuff, the more I like it.
