This is looking like a brilliant film.

HOLY CRAP!!!  This movie was INCREDIBLE!
There were a few plot-holes, but considering the huge mess the movie had to clean up, I think it did the job brilliantly!  By the time the end-credits rolled, I found my eyes misting up with joy at the fact that THEY FIXED IT!  Awesome surprise cameos, awesome and engaging story, and best of all, it felt like a real X-Men story! And the after-credits scene: PERFECT!
This was the most fun I've had at a movie in a long time.   ;D

I just saw it too and really enjoyed it.  Such a cool story to see realized on the big screen.  I'll chat a little about it on the podcast this week more, but everyone did a terrific job on this film.  Really loved the last 10 minutes or so.  Go see this!

I saw this with the wife as I guess I do just about every movie I go to. I didn't know till after but my boss from work was there with his wife and they both enjoyed and after they were going to go see Godzilla. We both really enjoyed it and me probably a little more so. Really liked the actors showing up from the original movies and being a part of the story. Mostly enjoyed Jackman and Lawrence and I always liked Halle Berry's Storm. Really enjoyed the ending. Of course my wife liked a certain Hugh Jackman scene. This was her reaction.  :jawdrop
Really liked the part where Magneto moved that stadium. Does anyone know what stadium that was supposed to be. Really loved the ending with all the original characters showing up. I always liked the Cyclops character and was waiting for him. Liked how they brought him in. And Kelsey Grammer as Beast! I could go on but I won't.
Go see this and I hope they don't wait forever for #3!

Part #3 ("Age of Apocalypse") is already set for 2016.

Superman v Batman, Cap 3 and an X-Men movie that year awesome. I'm going broke going to all these movies this year so looks like 2015 and 2016 will be the same way!

What a joy. This is probably the best X-Men (not Wolverine) film since X2. Lots going on here, but unlike other movies with multiple characters, it doesn't feel like anyone's getting short shrift. This is a TEAM movie, the "future" X-Men fighting the Sentinels was the best demonstration of super-team work yet on screen. Yep, I'm including Avengers. I LOVED Blink. Cool to see Bishop in action. The ending was great, and stay after the credits, of course. A tease for the next film. Bonus, John Ottman returns all the way back from X2 to do the score, so for the first time, an X-film has a returning theme. I was happy to hear it, it's a strong theme. Very happy...I think the X-Men are back on track and haven't been better represented yet.

I loved the music too - really worked well.  And how about Quicksilver?!  How awesome was he?!?!!

wraith1701

Quicksilver was freaking AWESOME!  I went into the theater thinking he'd be my least favorite part of the film, and he turned out to be one of my favorite parts.  His quirky fashion sense felt right for the character, and the casually aloof attitude seemed like a believable depiction of how a young Pietro might behave.  Sure; he was a bit more lighthearted than the older, modern-day Quicksilver of the comics, but I can easily imagine this Quicksilver evolving into the bitterly arrogant Quicksilver of the present.

I don't think the following is too spoilery, but just to be safe:
The speed effects were incredible.  That break-out scene has to be one of the coolest super-hero action scenes I've seen on film since EVER.

I was also tickled by the little nod to his possible relation to Magneto; the whole "Oh, my mother used to know a guy who could control metal."   It was also great to see a sister.  I was initially a little put-off by the age difference, since Wanda/Scarlet Witch is supposed to be his twin, but then I remembered the younger sister, Polaris.
I really, REALLY hope we see more Quicksilver in the next film.  :)

Had a day off work yesterday and took myself off to the flicks to see this. Loved it, great writing, directing and if course acting. Very emotional in parts especially James Mcavoy who can do no wrong. Fassbender, well come on he's the James Bond that I think we've missed.
My only question and I'm sure someone can fill me in, I thought old Prof X died, he floated in the air and went all dusty. Have I missed something.

There was a bit at the end of X-3 where his spirit/consciousness took up residence in the mindless husk of his twin brother, who was kept alive in a hospital by Moira MacTaggart.  The only good thing about that little scene:
It allowed Xavier & the X-Men to carry on & eventually send Wolverine back to the past, where he altered history & prevented that entire movie, including Xavier's death, from ever happening.  ;)
Bromptonboy

Wow, major Butterfly effect on that one.
