Nice to see a Starship Troopers reference in Gizmodo's  Apple vs. Samsung update! :)

"Update 7: Jury says Apple violated zero Samsung patents, and owes Apple nothing so far.
Welp. Remember that part in Starship Troopers, when all of the bugs kill all the humans? This is like that, and Samsung is the humans."

Yea Bugs!

Looks really good. I'm glad this franchise is continuing.

Casper Van Dien is involved with the film but not acting in it. :(

The new suits are interesting and unlike the Powered Armour seen in SST Chronicles these have full helmets similar to those seen in Final Fantasy.

Don't know if they could make a sequel to 'The Spirits With In' film, but I'd like to see them try.
IMHO they had the best designs.

Thanks for the podcast on Starship Troopers Dave, I know I say this a lot but it truly is one of my favorite sci-fi movies.  I loved the way they walked the line between tongue-in-cheek humor and serious battle, and the special effects really do stand up today.  Listening to your 'cast made me watch it again with zeal.

- and look what it started  :)

The next Starship Troopers movie: Invasion is a total bug-fest too!

I watched it over the weekend and like this CG movie.
It may be full of synthetic troopers and bugs, but it has more in common with the original than the last two sequels.
A couple of tongue-in-check light moments  :thumbsup  and another shower scene (sigh) :o

Rico, Carmen and Carl are back with lots of references repeated from the first movie as well as a number of sly winks...

I liked this scene as I thought back to the first movie.
In the original, the 'Roger Young' breathlessly misses the station as it's leaving port.

This time the 'Alesia' grinds the paint as she leaves at a more determined pace.  :D

Overall, I don't mind the animation as an alternative to live action, if it needs to be made cheaper. As long as the directing is on par with a well written story.

I picked up the SST: Invasion DVD at my local Best Buy and I found the extra content doesn't have much to offer for a gag reel or deleted scenes.

Does have a good 'Making of Documentary' and a Filmmaker Commentary track too.
I didn't know Starship Troopers was such a big hit in Japan. :thumbsup

Invasion was directed by Shinji Aramaki and mixes Hollywood with a slight Japanese Anime influence, it seems to be a good fit.

I just watched Aramaki's 2004 movie 'Appleseed' and the CG is frack'n awesome!
I can see how he would geek-out over directing SST: Invasion, he's been blowing stuff up for years, lol! :dstar
