I built one of these back in '93, but I left it in NY when I moved. Found this on eBay for pretty cheap, still sealed. I think I might try to light it...I think for my first try this would be a good one, not too complicated.

I built that one way back when as well. No clue what happened to it. I really liked it, as I recall it was quite large!

Sweet, I never built that ne. makes me want to go and find an old Galileo 7 kit on e-bay...

..never mind, they are like $200!

Rico

Always liked that ship.  Have fun putting her together.

jedijeff

Looks great!  Be sure to do a timelapse of construction or similar :)

ChrisMC

Yeah, I may do that, maybe after all the pieces are out and pre-painted. I probably won't light it. I just don't have that skill set. Just gonna try to do a good paint job on it. Actually trying to decide if I'm gonna use the sensor pod or not.

That will be cool. And you should use the sensor pod.

Feathers

Sensor pod? Isn't that the torpedo launcher on the top (or do you mean something else)?

I want one now...

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Yeah the thing on top is a long range sensor pod. I used to think it was a torpedo launcher as well.

Feathers

Really??? But on the episode whose name I can't remember they took those out with them so they could fire torpedoes! Oh dear, I can feel one of my cherished beliefs slipping away from me :(

It's a reasonable assumption to make based on ships like the Reliant.

ChrisMC

Well, the directions call it a "long range sensor cluster array". It's meant to be a mission specific deal they can slap up there if there doing sciencey stuff. Now that you mention it tough, I think i might recall an episode where torpedoes were fired from it. Have to look that up.

Yeah but how many times have they fired phasers from the deflector dish and the like, lots of snafus like that across all of Trek history :)
