I quite liked it when it turned up on my phone but its now driving me insane  :wallbash:

Not only is the interface laggy and slow to respond (although that could be my 3GS getting old) but it doesn't seem as functional as a simple smart playlist.

Is anybody else feeling more positive about this app?
If you can remain calm when all around you are panicking, you probably didn't understand the question

No. :)

Apple should have one this years ago. Their system for podcast consumption hadnt really been updated since the dys of the classic iPod.
There are at least 3 3rd party apps that do a much better job and have been doing so for quite a while.

iCatcher, Pocket Casts, Downcast, Instacast....

ok so am I just being dumb? Is there s settings button to set up all the podcasts or do you have to set the rules for each podcast (subscribe, keep unplayed etc)

Err Dangelus thats 4  :wacko

And 4 is "at least 3" isn't it? ;)

My point was not all the 3rd party pod catcher apps are as straight forward as the Apple one.

I did a short article on the subject just before the app was released.

And KingIsaacLinksr reviewed DownCast, my tool of choice.

I tried it for two days and switched back to instacast. My biggest beef with it is that it doesn't let me download podcasts greater then 50 Megs over 3G. Aside from that it really pushes streaming which isn't how I like to consume my shows.

Oddly this app doesn't really feel like an apple product to me, it lacks a certain UI polish that I'm used to with their stuff. It feels a little unfinished.

I downloaded it for my iPad but have no real use for it.  I still just use iTunes and dump podcasts to my classic iPod each day.  Old school style baby!

It's not that great....this should have come out years ago and then Apple could have been improving it all this time. I think this is the first app they've released where it just isn't good compared to what third party devs have been offering.
