Hey....that's more than a full UK Season of shows. Look at how long we've waited for a full 6 episode Season of Red Dwarf :)

Breaking Bad opening episode was amazing. And you can see the big difference in Walt's attitude even from the end of Season 4. Winning has made him so dark! Dio you think all of us could have this dark foreboding potential lurking deep within?

Blink though and you'll miss it.  Eight episodes???  And we should be grateful I guess that there's any more new stories at all.  Sad, sorry state but the truth is eight is better than zero so I guess I'll just be happy.

No, there are going to be 16 episodes for season 5.  Eight will air this summer and eight more will be shown next year.

Right, that's one way of looking at it though you could just as easily call it season six next year couldn't you?  The network clearly wants us to look at it the way you're suggesting Rico, so I'll play. The last season of the Sopranos is the first series I remember that did their final season this way, with a long break in the middle, and it's becoming more and more common as time goes on.  It's like the winter break before sweeps in February has been extended to almost a year.  Not good for people like me who hate waiting.

All that said I can't possibly let this diminish my enthusiasm for season 5.  What an awesome premiere!  I was very happy to see Jim Beaver back in the beginning of the episode, even though he had like two lines.  He's one of my favorite actors from Deadwood and it's nice to see him again.  I hope he's used more as the season progresses.  The relationship between Walt and Skylar is also one of the elements I'm most interested to see develop over this season.  She seems frozen by indecision but...
that scene in the hospital was so brilliant, how you could see her face and demeanor transform from concern and sadness into the hard, cold, manipulator that Walt needs her to be.
What a great job Anna Gunn (also from Deadwood) does in this role.  And seeing
their plan come together at the police station was so cool!
Love this show!

It's one season - season 5.  This breaking up of seasons with long gaps after half of it has been going on for awhile now.  The new BSG used to do it a lot.  I'm not a fan of this, but if it gets us longer seasons and more episodes I can live with it.  And you are right, the performances all around on this series are amazing.

Right and I remember the wait was so long for the second half of BSG's season 3 that they even released the DVD set of the first half of season 3 before the second half aired!  I am not a fan of this either, can you tell?  I imagine though, or at least have to hope, that the delay does contribute to the overall high quality of the show.  I'd much rather have to wait and have the show retain its high level of quality than have the creative team feel like they have to rush to meet deadlines and compromise somewhere along the line.

edit to add:  I like that site Screenrant, Rico, never been there before.  Thanks for linking,

Here's a fun little video covering some of the best chemistry moments of the first four seasons. Thought of our resident chemist Rico on this one :)

NOTE: this video contains spoilers for the first 4 seasons.

This season has been incredible so far. Loved the last episode...typical BB, no victory without darkness!

That's awesome!  He needs to make t-shirts with that image and the phrase, "I am the danger!" under the picture.  :)

P.S. I loved how on the latest episode Walt took into account the chemical density difference of two liquids.  Chemistry in action baby!

ChrisMC

Yes, I love that stuff, it gives a glimpse of old Walt who was so enthusiastic about science. Now, I'm mostly creeped out by him. Never thought I'd say this, but I'm with Skyler...and her character usually is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I love how Jesse is becoming the "brains" of the group, and the heart really, which made it awful when :
that weirdo shot that little kid at the end. Jesse conceived the heist just so they wouldn't have to kill 2 innocent train workers, and as a result something way worse happened.
This show is blazing trails for dramatic TV, I am really excited to see how this wraps up.

This season is just crazy.  More intense every week as Walter continues to spiral down deeper into the abyss.

I think I made need medication for the stress this show puts me under!! And by the looks of the finale, the pressure is about to get turned way up!
By the way, I really felt for Mike. I know he's a drug guy, but damn. That was rough. What's left of Walt???
Awesome mid season finale last night.  Walt has really become a force to be reckoned with.  And the last couple of minutes.....WOW.  Wish we didn't have to wait until next summer for the final 8 episodes.  Going to be a long wait.
