Ok, so like I've said a few times, I'm typically behind the times when it comes to some newer Sci-Fi shows. I just finished watching all of the Stargate SGU episodes for the first time via NetFlix. O...M....G.....I can't believe how much I liked that show! It was just enough like Stargate to keep us in that story, but a totally different take on it. Now mind you, I've watched the original movie (many times) and only like two seasons of SG1 so that's all I have to go off of. But man, I really liked SGU. I was crest fallen with the final episode though
I'll forever wonder if they got to the other galaxy and if they all woke up, and if Eli was successful at repairing his cryo chamber or if he (gulp)...died
Any way, really enjoyed that show and give it two Scottish thumbs up! :)

Yes, I love SGU way too much, was heartbroken when they cancelled the series.  It had an incredible potential.

I know. And I thought it was just getting into a great groove.  Another victim.

Agreed very much Al.  I had a hard time at first with the series, but pretty quickly grew to love it.  Just like Trek, Farscape, and too many other series, I miss having an ongoing SG show on these days.

I was never much into SG, I watched a few here and there, found it OK, but I really enjoyed SGU. Just another example of science fiction shows dying on tv. I know it's cyclical, but it seems like fantasy is the driving force, which is fine I like fantasy. But sci-fi is my first genre love and I crave it.

I enjoyed it, more and more until the end but it was a bit of a jarring start for me since it was so different to regular "Gate" that I love. I also think it suffered from trying to be a little too much "BSG" in style.

To be frank I think it was Robert Carlisle that kept me watching really. I still wish they resurrect the Stargate franchise, it has such potential.

You know, I did notice now similar SGU was to BSG...especially when they got close to the end and found the others...and Dan, I agree, Carlisle kept me interested. I think he's a terrific actor...and SCOTTISH! :)
Chris, yep, seems like Fantasy, vampires and cop shows are the hot ticket items these days!

It was a great show on its own merits although a little too different from regular Stargate to fit completely comfortably with the others. That's not a complaint though, I simply watched it for what it was.

Actually, by the time the second season was running I was comfortable enough with it that it didn't jar so much with "old" stargate in my mind so my initial feelings were probably more down to me than the production.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.
