The problem will still be content. Unless they start making some deals it will basically be a TV with an integrated Apple TV box.

In regard to content, at the very least it will have the same features currently available with AppleTV, which I have at home. So iTunes, Netflix, YouTube, ect. A bigger question is will it have Safari, a proper web browswer.

I would guess no to the browser.

Still think the tuner is a big deal. Apple have never directly supported a tuner in the ecosystem. So will it be an "feature" of the TV that resides outside their ecosystem (a bad idea IMHO taking you out of the experience) or will they fully integrate it into the "Apple TV" ecosystem and possibly include DVR functionality? Exciting stuff.

I could see some type of browser using an iPad as an input device.

That's what I was thinking as well, Joe. Clearly they will integrate iPhone/iPad wirelsss functionality with the TV, that's typical Apple. And Dan, I would be very suprised if the turner is not an Apple device.

The only thing that makes me doubt the browser is that they haven't done it with the ATV but you never know I suppose.

This should be interesting.  We are thinking about getting a new TV, so this might be our sign to hold off for a bit.
Having a decent browser would sway me.

I don't get all this browser talk. 10ft browser experiences are terrible, why would the ability to browse the web on your TV be the influencing factor? Dedicated apps are a much better experience.

I have to boxes connected to large TVs but I never browse the web with them.

I agree 10 ft browser experiences are terrible, but before the iPhone came out I also said that mobile browser experiences were terrible. I'll hear them out if they do this. Might be better then we're used to.

I want the option to be able to do some browsing.  It won't be my front line way of browsing, but could be useful for hitting various web services - not to mention remote desktop to my work PC or watching Webex presentations.

Look, we would all love to have a 55" to show off :0 lol honestly though I would love this but that size TV is just too big for my living room. I have a decent size room as well and i think the biggest size i would go to is around 46" (based on furthest distance away). Looking at this table below you get the jist.

Screen   Viewing distance range
26"           3.25-5.5 feet
32"           4.0-6.66 feet
37"           4.63-7.71 feet
40"           5.0-8.33 feet
46"           5.75-9.5 feet
52"           6.5-10.8 feet
58"           7.25-12 feet
65"           8.13-13.5 feet
70"           8.75-14.75 feet

Yeah, newer homes in the US all have living rooms with cut-outs to handle massive flat screens,

Smart, very smart idea. I think. Is that a good thing though really? I mean making homes slightly different just so people can have bigger TV's.

Who am I kidding i want a cinema in my back room lol

Merged this with our previous topic.  It will be interesting to see if anything gets mentioned next week at the big Apple event.

Thanks Rico, I knew we had this topic already but I couldn't find it....or clearly didn't try hard enough.. :)
