My son got another monitor recently to hook and have two for his PC.  So, since I have a second monitor I decided to try it.  I usually just use this monitor for my secondary PC when I need both PC's to do the podcasts, record Skype, etc.  I can still revert to that too.  But it's cool to be able to stretch your desktop and work over two big monitors.  Here's a quick pic I took with my iPad.

Yeah, I use a dual monitor setup with 22" Samsung LCDs.  I can't imagine my home computer not having that nowadays.  Great for homework and/or watching videos.  :)

I use Dual Monitors for work, makes a big difference as can throw something to another monitor, helps when configuring something and need to refer to instructions.

ooh! so you have something on one monitor, and you can take it to the next one, just by dragging? that's AWESOME! :)

Yes, and there is quite a bit you can do with dual monitors.  Gaming too, but you need a high power CPU and I lack it.  =\  (Imagine WoW + Browser at same time ;))

Do you have a splitter for your video card, or 2 video cards?

Most modern video cards are dual headed, so they have either 1 VGA and 1 DVI output or two DVIs.

I've had two or more monitors on my desk at one time for awhile now - but normally just plugged into other PC's.  This is the first I've really tried using two with one PC.  I'm not quite sure how much I'll need it.  I kind of focus on one task at a time.  But it will be helpful when in WOW or TOR gaming to have a browser to look things up.  Usually I would just minimize the game and the use the browser and then bring the game back up.  But this will be easier.

Hey - does anyone know of a good utility or program for Win 7 to give you two actual separate desktops?  So you can have two wallpapers, different short cuts, etc. on the second monitor?

I used to use UltraMon, I think it works on Vista/Win7.

When you are setting it up, you can put whatever shortcuts you want by just dragging them to where you want them. Or you can just get DisplayFusion Pro for setting it all up.

I just got a dual monitor set up at work.  What I'd really like is for my computer to remember where I like to keep certain programs...for example I'd like my email program to default open to a certain monitor, and explorer to open on the other.  It doesn't seem to remember where I close things.  I do like it, I have the widescreen set to face on an angle away from the entrance of my cubicle so I can quickly change tabs if my supervisor walks in while I'm posting on this site ;)

Ultramon is pretty cool!  It's nice to be able to use two different wallpaper backgrounds or have a large, panoramic wallpaper fill the two screens.  Some nice, wide wallpapers here:

Kind of ended up making my own wallpaper...
