Hmm, finally it worked...

It was a good episode, but a really lousy finale if you ask me.  It felt like there was more after it and for it to suddenly end...eh.

But otherwise, great season was a lot of fun watching the Guild.  Interested in seeing what is next.

King

What do you mean it felt like there was more.. they wrapped up all the stories and set the stage for the next season.

well, ok, I guess I just felt that the series was building up to something more than what they showed and it builds and builds and then.....stops.  Not the usual climatic ending that the prior seasons had.  You had the "raid boss" in S1, the party showdown in S2, the guild VS guild battle in S3 and the...marriage in S4.

It just didn't feel like a season ending to me.

Btw Kenny, any idea why mobile users cannot see The Guild even though it's on YouTube?  Seems silly to put it on the website, but restrict it to PC only.

Only encourages us to download it and convert it.  Not that I have, but cmon...

I'm guessing it's due to a little thing called "Flash" and Steve Jobs anal control & paranoia.

Uhh, no.  We can see the videos on our YouTube official iPhone apps.  We just can't play them.  And Trekkygeek who has an HTC Desire can't even watch The guild on his phone from YouTube.

OK anybody wanting to watch The Guild on a mobile device via YouTube, if you subscribe to "Watchtheguilditaly" it has all the seasons currently on YouTube (1-3) and they play back fine on my iPhone. The videos have Italian subs but this us no biggie.

Since you can't play the videos, why do you think it has nothing to do with Flash?  I don't get what you are saying.  Also, keep in mind The Guild has a deal with MSN going.  Have you tried watching the videos right on www.watchthguild.com?  I actually go there to watch them most of the time.

There is a setting for Youtube Uploaders (I checked last night) that prevent mobile devices and TVs from viewing the videos and this setting seems to be enabled for Season 3 of the Guild on YT.  Since Steve Jobs gave us the YouTube App natively, it has nothing to do with flash.

And yes, we could watch the Guild from MSN, but some of us like to watch videos on the go. :)  And since MSN/Bing does not have a video app, this makes it impossible for mobile devices to view said videos.  (Going back to my notion that MSN/Bing still sucks ;) )

What I want to know is why The Guild is blocking mobile users?  Why have it on YT at all if your going to block 50% of the viewership...

Rico, the youtube app on the iphone plays 99% of the videos unless the author restricts it. Youtube doesnt use flash with thus app and any videos browsed via the web interface get redirected to the app anyway for playback.

The issue I was having was that the native iPhone YouTube app gave an error saying that the content author had not authorised the content to be played on the iPhone. Tim discovered that if you got to the video via search instead of subscription it would bypass this restriction but not all the guild eps were searchable for sone reason.

Since then I found an Italian Guild subscription that plays fine just with Italian subs. My first guess as to why have such a block was a contractual issue like you mentioned. Who knows....

Again, I say try www.watchtheguild.com on your phones.  I don't have a web enabled phone so I can't try it this way.

P.S.  I didn't even know The Guild was putting up their current episodes on YouTube?  Would seem to defeat the exclusive agreement with MSN if they did.

That site just redirects to MSN, Zune and Xbox Live to watch the episodes and you need flash support.

Youtube only has Seasons 1-3 as new seasons are Microsoft exclusive as per contract.

My gosh King..complain, complain, complain.. I'm sorry that you can't watch The Guild on your mobile phone.. if you like I can see if I can get the cast to come out to you and preform it live and in person. The Guild bends over backwards for it's fans. They aren't produced by some large company. There are a few people running the entire thing. They put there show on You Tube because that is where they started and became popular. If there are restrictions for mobiles I'm sure they are unaware of it or it's part of some sort of deal. I'll see if I can find out why they put restrictions on them. You know you could actually support The Guild by buying the DVD and then you can burn each episode to your itunes legally or if you don't want all the DVD extras, you can go to the itunes store buy electronic versions of each episodes. And if you can't afford them then you can watch the episodes on your computer with You Tube, MSN/Bing, Zune or WatchtheGuild.com. And if you have an Xbox you can watch them there.

Sorry about the rant I'm just tired of hearing people complain about something that they don't pay for and have other ways of getting legal copies. It's like you give and give to these people and all they want is more and more.

The Microsoft deal is new episodes on Bing for 4 weeks exclusive, then they can go to itunes/zune and Watchtheguild.  I think it's like six months before they go to You Tube.

Geekyfanboy

Sent an email out to the folks who upload them to You Tube.. asked if they knew of the issue.. I'll let you  know what they say.

Kenny, I don't think that's exactly true for www.watchtheguild.com.  They are there right as they come out, but embedded via MSN/Bing.  So I guess it's close to the same thing.  But I notice you don't get the preroll ads all the time when you watch them on www.watchtheguild.com.
