Blender is a pretty awesome program, I've had it for years, but never had time to figure it out with college and stuff keeping me busy. There's lots more stuff at http://www.blender.org/features-gallery/ if anybody is interested.

Terragen is a program that you might be interested in. It's easy to learn and can create magnificent landscapes.
