I'm really only using it because the office closure finally bites today and so many people I've known for (up to) 20 years are being kicked out although it has been fun to find names of people who I've known over that time (who left in years gone by).

Linkedin is actually pretty handy for professionals to connect and of course for job searching.  And for staying in touch with long lost work friends.
