Well, got a Blu-Ray drive for my PC finally.  Model is made by LG and it's a burner too.  Prices have dropped a lot on the drives and blank media (which you can get for about $2 a disc now).  Been playing around with it the last couple of days.  Managed to get it setup to do screenshots from Blu-Ray movies (not an easy thing actually due to restrictions, etc.).  Anyway, here are a couple quick shots from "Wrath of Khan."  Cool stuff!

Nice my DVD burner has been out for a year now.. really need to buy me a new one.. was thinking of upgrading to a Blu-ray burner.

Great screen captures Rico.
High-def is now a common format in video authoring software, but the high price of the media has always put me off- till now.

I've always liked the configuration of the USS Reliant, except that they used common carpet padding on the turbolift walls.
(I installed carpet in a former life.)

I still question whether Saavik's hair is regulation!  :P

I have a Blu-Ray drive in my new PC that I installed and it's also an LG. However, I can't seem to get it to work for Blu-Ray. It works fine on all other formats.

You should have captured the shot of the hole in the turbolift wall. It drives me batty everytime I see it! Now tonight we watched The Search For Spock and I saw even more holes in the foam in the turbolift.

Great screen caps, Rico!

Now I have a sudden urge to watch The Wrath of Khan.

Those are just a few test caps.  Planning on doing a lot more.  Like I said above, there are a few "hoops" you have to go through to get this to work.  But it's worth it.   :blush

gotta love the animated splash of the phaser strike - I don't think I've seen that before in such detail.

Rico

Yeah, it's fun to see little details like that.  This is going to help with prop making too.  Oh, if anyone has a Blu-Ray drive (or is getting one) and wants some help and tips to captures screenshots, just let me know.  It might save you the hours I spent to get this all to work pretty well.  The main issue is that most software players have screenshots disabled when playing Blu-Ray titles (unlike DVD where you can snap away).  The good news is, there are some work arounds for this issue.  ;)

Thanks!  It's fun to play around with.  I notice tiny little new things all the time when I do this.
