Just wondering if anyone else is watching this show. I know it is not Sci-Fi, but the first episode had some great production Values.

I really enjoyed Band of Brothers, and was one of the best shows I have ever watched on TV. So I am hoping that this will be as good, or at least come close. Steven Speilberg and Tom Hanks are executive producing again, and from the first Episode, it was very good quality imho. I don't know much about the Pacific Theater part of WW2, so looking forward to learning a bit more.

They had a scene around the start where they were heading to the beach on Guadalcanal, and build up reminded me of Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan, but it ended much differently. There were a few scenes as well in the first episode, that I found shocking, just like in Band of Brothers. I was reading a few complaints, as some had issues with rough language, but I did not find it out of place for the show and never bothered me. All in all I am looking forward to the rest of the Mini series.

I am watching.  My old man was there - but in the Navy, not the Marine Corps.  He had some hair raising tales of what he saw and went through.
So far the show seems excellent.  I love how they show Chesty Puller!

I need to be watching this.  I find this part of WWII very interesting - especially the air part of the war (are they getting into that?).

So far no - it is focusing on the Marines at Gaudalcanal.  You see some fly overs - but nothing of any great detail.  But that is not to say that they won't in the future.  If you like Band Of Brothers, this is up your alley.

I don't have HBO, but I'm looking forward to this.  Please post your reviews.  I'm anticipating the June 15 DVD/Blu-Ray release, and will quickly drop the cash for this if the quality is anywhere near Band of Brothers.

They probably won't focus to much on the air war Rico.  It's going to focus on the Marines.  Who knows though, maybe the next miniseries will focus on the Navy pilots.

The first episode was very good.  But I was disappointed they didn't show us any of their training.  That was one of the best parts of Band of Brothers.

Band of Brothers, along with From the Earth to the Moon, are two of the greatest HBO series EVER.

Band of Brothers would have been tops for me if they had dropped 'Ross' (David Schwimmer) from the production.  ;)
