Celestialteapot tweeted about this film a bit ago.

Looks pretty interesting; it strikes me as being sort of a Lord Of The Rings-esque quest film.  Only it's set in a postapocalyptic world where humanity is either threatened or extinct, and a band of unlikely heroes is fighting against giant killer-robots.  Based on a short film by Shane Acker, the feature-length film is made by Tim Burton.  Music by Danny Elfman, with a cast including Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau, John C. Reilly, Crispin Glover, and Jennifer Connelly.

Check out the trailer-

As you know I'm rather stoked for this :)

Although I think it's a bit unfair to call it a Tim Burton film, he's just producing it. The actual film is directed by Shane Acker from his Oscar winning short and written by Pamela Pettler, with animated by a studio called Attitude Studio.
This question has baffled mankind for all eternity... why don't sheep shrink in the rain?

True.. but the name Tim Burton will get butt's in the seats... it looks cool.

Yep; after following your tweet link, I started poking around and found out that Acker is the mastermind behind it.  I'm really looking forward to the film-- Looks like some great character actors involved in the production, and you can't go wrong with a Danny Elfman score.  Not to mention that the character and world design look awesome, as does the animation.  The story is pretty intriguing as well.

I've got a copy of Acker's original short at my blog if anyone wants to check it out:

I'm looking forward to this movie as well! It has a very Terminator feel to it.  By the way, here's the short film that inspired the movie way back in 2005-

Well, just got back from this and really enjoyed it.  I thought the animation was fantastic - and I liked the story too.  Really some cool actors they got together for the voice work.  Interesting story and good pacing.  Definitely worth seeing if you enjoy animation and this type of thing.

Good story and some great action for a cartoon and a cast of only 9.  Crispin Glover, Jen Connelly, Marty Landau, Chris Plummer (man these old timers are showing up everywhere seems - great to see/hear them again)

That was Alan Oppenheimer from the old "Six Million Dollar Man" series as a voice in the movie too.  He played the scientist.  He's 79!

Just got back from seeing this.. it was good, not great but far from bad. Wanted to know more about the Nine.. why nine of them? It was a simple story, well acted and great animation... some of those mechanical creature were pretty sweet.

I just saw this yesterday.  I agree, it was good but not great.  CGI was great, and it is a clever idea.
