I know there are a few Red Dwarf fans here, but being new, not sure of how many.

If you are a UK Red Dwarf fan, are any of you heading to the Dimension Jump XV Convention in Birmingham in a few weeks?

It will be my first one. I've done something stupid though. I've convinced myself that they are going to announce a new 6 part series for the Dave TV channel. I'll be gutted if they don't!

If you are not a Red Dwarf fan, why not? It's awesome and well worth seeking out! I've met lovers of the show. I've met people who have never seen it. I am yet to meet anyone who likes sci-fi, watched it and didn't like. Even Patrick Stewart is a fan!!!!

Hello sir. I'm sure you already know i'm a huge Red Dwarf fan, did a waffle On show on the subject. I've met all of the cast had a serious geek out when i met Chris Barrie. I was thinking of going to Djump but can't afford the entry fee so I'll stick with going to the collectors show at the NEC. I'd love a new series i liked the specials and as i said on my show they should have used a laughter track. Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast.

I've actually got it downloaded onto my iPod with a laughter track. I now prefer it without one. Once I'd gotten used to it. Cause of a few heated debates on another forum I use!! So I won't press the matter. :D

Loving what I've heard from Waffle On so far. I'll probably email you soon for a promo. On ours I do a Podcast of the Week section. Next few are taken though.....and it's actually fortnightly now too....

Ha ha. Fair enough. I got into Dwarf properly around 1992 and have not looked back. I love every series though series 7 is poor because of the obvious reason. I own somewhere a number 1 Red Dwarf magazine. I really enjoyed the last proper series, the scene with listep trying to talk to rimmer and breaks him with the line she'l nearly wore me down to bone, both cheeks man. Lol great. I honestly think grant naylor should just get back together to write, i know they are friends again but it works better with the two of them together.

I agree about series 7. Not too bad but definately misses a certain somebody. I am also NOT a series 8 hater. Some episodes are appalling but some are fantastic.

1992.........I think I was a year behind you with that, about 1993. And I loved the audio clips you dropped into your episode. Especially the above mentioned scene. lol

A piece of Red Dwarf history, believed to have been lost for ever to landfill hell, has resurfaced.

For those who don't know, a significant chunk of the first series budget was spent on a massive model of the mining ship Red Dwarf. The original series credits features extreme close ups detailing how fantastic this model was. And, this model fell off a shelf and broke around Series 3 or 4, I think. (May be misremembering when...)

It broke significantly enough for the whole lot to be thrown into a skip and sent to landfill. Lost forever....

This is probably as close as Red Dwarf could ever come to the discovery of a lost Doctor Who episode....

Thought I'd share. Someone will be interested.

I saw this when you posted it on FB earlier. Man why didn't he just take the whole ship. I wonder how much it will go for.

He had it in his bedroom for 23 years???

Some people keep the strangest things from work ;)

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

ori-STUDFARM

It's been at his parents house for years. Took him a few days to dig it out and picture it... :)

Okay...in preparation of the new series, the first RDX trailer has been released. And has most of the UK sci-fi fans buzzing with excitement....and also wonderment at how wrong Kryten's mask seems to have gone!! :?

Yes, I too wondered about Krtyen!   :o

I did do this side by side comparison with the BtE mask to highlight the differences. Although I think the shadow in this first scene in the trailer highlights the nose more. Later, it doesn't seem as pronounced...

Red Dwarf started out at the time I was still at school. I'm glad that it's still around and can be appreciated by a newer generation. That said, it did dip in quality after Series 6. I just hope people new to RD won't be introduced to it through the poorer episodes. In my opinion series 2-5 probably encapsulates Red Dwarf at its best. I loved Quarantine, probably my favourite episode. I also enjoyed the music clip-compilations they put as extras on the DVDs.

Incidentally, there is a cheap Kindle book looking at the earlier series of Dwarf. Can't remember its title, but should be easy enough for ppl to find on Amazon.

Let's hope any new episodes go back to the standard of those middle-series gems. And, yeah, I personally would also like to see Grant & Naylor back together professionally to work on Red Dwarf.

So, tonights the big night for us Red Dwarf fans. The debut of the first proper 6 episode series (or 6 episode Season if you prefer) since 1999!!

Anyone else as excited as I? Probably not!!

(9pm on Dave TV if you were wondering)
