I would love some insight from you guys that do podcasts i want to start my own just 30 Min's or so but just wanted some info

Things like

How you prepare
Useful programs you use

Any help would be awesome

I think there are several threads about this on the forum. Two main programs I use are Audacity to record and Feed for All to create the feed and edit that each week. Plus all the website stuff too.

Actually one little thing I wondered is do you use a mixer and if so which one?

I'm a non-techie, but I use Audacity to record meetings. It's a breeze to use. It's very clear and easily picks up voices from quite a distance (at least on my macbook). I wish I'd had it when I was in school... then I could record lectures to use to lull myself to sleep at night!

awesome i have an i mac but im not to sure about the mic on it i may just be having trouble with my settings but im not sure ill give it a go

Also heads up.. Podbean is a really good service for podcasters. Once you have everything set up all you do is record the show, edit it (if you wish) and then output it as an MP3 and upload it to podbean and they do everything else. It's a very simple process and you don't have to deal with RSS feeds and such.

I use a mixer. A very basic one. Made by Eurorack, model UB 1002. It's needed if you plan on using a standard, three-pin connect studio style mic.

Indeed and the FTP link is a god send if a show is long.
