I'm experimenting with some techniques to make believable yet imaginary spacescapes.

This is an attempt to simulate a planet with a moon. I made this in Gimp.

Any comments and suggestions, and especially constructive criticisms are most welcome.

Peace,
Allen

I made another one. Wanted to see if I could do an "M class" planet. I formatted this one to be wall paper for a wide-screen monitor.

I really like your artwork. Do have any more? If so, please show a few more.
Thanks.
P.S. I especially like the shadowing of the planet on the first picture. Is that an example of phong shading? I'm not sure if I have that term correct.

Nice job!  Love this kind of stuff.

I will gladly post more! Thanks for the comments. If you have a thought of something you'd like let me know.

And yes, technically that would be phong shading, except that in this case its' drawn, not rendered.

i had no idea you had artistic talent, dadand.  nice!  I'd like to see some pics with space junk and asteroids... like pieces of a Bird of Prey.  I love the clean look, though, for aesthetic "no dirty humans here" value.
